Three Films, Three Titles

Postby Specter on Mon Apr 06, 2009 8:39 am

@Nelson64: @LeDoctor sorry to bother, I just wanted to know if the titles of The Last Airbender movies were going to have subtitles or just be numbered

@LeDoctor: Did I answer your question? If not, the 3 movies will have separate titles.

So, we know the title of the first film is simply The Last Airbender. What about the other two?

Film 1: The Last Airbender
Film 2:
Film 3:

Based on the story lines of Books 2 and 3.... what do you think the other titles will be?

Hmm. Interesting. I think it's going to be tricky getting the titles right.

I think these are horrible guesses, but whatever:

Film 2: The Earth Kingdom or The Crossroads of Destiny

Film 3: The Day of Black Sun or Sozin's Comet

omg thats me lmao...i love frank marshall he's really nice...anyways i like your second suggestion for both of them...the earth kingdom is too blah and the day of black sun is too specific...although i would work on sozins comet a bit...cus idk its not ALL about sozins comet...but i like them
looking forward to a new Avatar series...maybe this website can change to be dedicated to that series or the Avatar world in general as I don't see a future for the live action films...at least not their current incarnation...

Good question, Nelson! Well done!

I do like the suggestions for the film titles. However, I have a feeling that they're going to have to do something with the titles to make it recognizable. Unless they're trying to pull a Chris Nolan Batman style naming schema, i.e. Batman Begins, The Dark Knight.

Film 1: The Last Airbender
Film 2: The Earth Kingdom
Film 3: The Fire Nation

I dunno... it's hard to truly sum them up in a single title.

You can base my suggestions on the following ;)

When they appointed me as director of the movie trilogy, I would separate the whole story in the following three films:

    The Last Airbender
Aang and Appa are awoken a hundred years later by two siblings of Southern Water Tribe origin, Katara and Sokka. Aang learns that the Fire Nation started a war a hundred years ago, just after his disappearance. The Fire Nation's opening move in its campaign for global conquest was to launch a genocidal attack on the Air Nomads which drove Aang's entire race to extinction, thus making him the last Airbender left alive. He realizes that he must fulfill his destiny of becoming the Avatar and return balance to the world by defeating the Fire Nation. Aang sets out to master the three unlearned elements: Water, Earth, and Fire. With Katara and Sokka, Aang decides to head first to the North Pole to find a Waterbending master.

Aang soon discovers that Sozin's Comet, which Fire Lord Sozin used as a power supply to start the war, will return in the coming summer, giving the Fire Nation enough power to ultimately accomplish victory. Aang realizes that he must master all four elements and end the war before this time. For most of their journey to the North Pole, the group is pursued by Zuko, a banished Fire Nation prince and son of Fire Lord Ozai who is obsessed with capturing Aang to restore his lost honor.

    Antagonists: Zuko and Zhao
    New Teacher: Katara (Waterbending)
Sub-Plot: Aang who has to learn about his past by entering the Spirit World, and his conversations with Avatar Roku.
    Plottwist: /
Climatic Battle: The Siege of the North
Cliffhanger: The capture of Aang by Zuko

The Day of the Black Sun

After leaving the North Pole and mastering Waterbending, Aang travels to the Earth Kingdom to master Earthbending. There, the group meets Toph, a blind Earthbending prodigy who becomes Aang's second teacher. The heroes discover information about an upcoming solar eclipse which would leave the Fire Nation powerless and open to invasion: The Day of the Black Sun.
They struggle to reach the Earth King with this vital information, but are detoured by Appa's kidnapping. The psychologically self-tormented Zuko, his sister Azula, and her two friends Mai and Ty Lee chase the group as the struggle to reach Ba Sing Se. Azula engineers a coup from within that topples the Earth King and destroys any hope of a large-scale invasion of the Fire Nation. When Aang gets lethally wounded by saving the entire Earth Kingdom from the Fire Nation, he needs to recover soon to prepare for the only chance they have to attack the Fire Nation before the Comet of Sozin.

    Antagonists: Azula and Zuko
    New Teacher: Toph (Earthbending)
Sub-Plot: The hard choice Zuko is about to make by actually joining the Avatar and fighting his father.
Climatic Battle: The Day of the Black Son
Cliffhanger: Will Zuko succeed in joining the Avatar when he is seen in his Fire Nation Air Balloon?

    Into the Inferno
The group recovers from the Battle at the Fire Nation, and travel to the Southern Air Temple. But while they are planning a new attack on the Fire Lord, they get a very surprising visit from Zuko. He manages to gain the trust of the protagonists and becomes Aang's Firebending teacher. Aang and Zuko unlock the firebending secrets of the Sun Warriors, Sokka and Zuko later travel to a Fire Nation prison to rescue Sokka's father and Suki, a warrior from Kyoshi Island.

On the day of Sozin's Comet, Fire Lord Ozai harnesses the Comet's power to start a genocidal campaign to destroy the rest of the world. Aang and his friends face the self-proclaimed Phoenix King Ozai, Azula (now crowned as the new Fire Lord by Phoenix King" Ozai), and the Fire Nation army. Aang confronts and defeats Ozai. At the same time, Zuko is incapacitated by Azula, who is then defeated by Katara. Also, the Order of the White Lotus takes back Ba Sing Se from the Fire Nation. Zuko then becomes the new Fire Lord and promises to help re-build the world alongside Aang.

Antagonists: Fire Lord Ozai and Azula
    New Teacher: Zuko (Firebending)
Sub-Plot: The mystery of Iroh's hiding place after he escaped and the White Lotus (This needs to be extended because otherwise the movie could become to short and it will be a surprise for the fans)
Climatic Battle: The Battle of the Wulong Forest
Cliffhanger: What happened to Ursa after Ozai banished her?

I think that when every movie has one epic battle at the end, the movies would get more interesting. There isn't much to be deleted from the second movie, and they can maybe edit something to the last movie (White Lotus?)
Now they can't mess up the two 'big' battles in the last season, by just ereasing or shorten the Battle of Ba Sing Se. Only Aang must be attacked by Azula's lightning!

Yeah this is a really dificult thing to worry about cuz not only duz it hav to describe the film but make it sound interesting too. I mean cum on "The Last Airbender" is gonna sound good to ppl tha don't watch the show. but yeah here's wat i thought about the titles that i liked and/or agreed with:
#1: The Last Airbender
#2: The Crossroads of Destiny
#3: Into the Inferno
and...lol...
#4: Aang and Katara do the no pants dance...(Adults Only)
Im thinkin these have the best shots and pull in ppl and of course if they wanna make a porno for number i want creative ownership of the title! (Pantent Pending)

Hmmm I don't know because they havent mentioned water at all in the first title...

With next two i SURE hope that they don't do something like "The Last Airbender 2".
Could they do "The Last Airbender: Book Two"?

I'm hoping that the do something like "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" where they completely change it.
Or possibly something like "X-Men", "X-Men 2: X-Men United", and "X-Men 3: The Last Stand"?
