I'd love to see if we can get some translations on the tattoo (it looks like Arabic, but that might just be me).

No, it's a made up language......earlier reports said that M. Night & Paramount aren't trying to emphasize the EAST ASIAN theme of the show, instead they're trying to expand the TLA universe to be more "diverse".......Therefore, all alphabets/ letters in TLA will be made up & NOT like the series where all the letter & alphabet were in Chinese (Mandarin/ Cantonese).

I like his arrow.
It'd be really cool if when he entered the Avatar state, the lines slowly began to glow.

If you've ever seen A Beautiful Mind, the part where the numbers start to light up is kind of what I'm talking about <3

Well, I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
But right now I'm on this lake shore
And I'm sitting in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
when I walk through that door tonight
Oh looky there...I've got a bite!

It appears that they glow more when he uses his power from that one shot in the trailer. But it could just be that one shot that looks that way.

I kind of mean like, they start at the air symbol on his forehead, then spill over into the other parts of the tattoo, like a waterfall <3

From my observations of Aang's TLA tattoo, the "Real Life" inspiration for it comes from the Sak Yant (Yantra) tattoo's of Southeast Asia Region.....which originally was worn by Angkorian Kings & Warriors of the Khmer Empire....my Ancestors BTW  (present day Cambodia) over two thousand years ago & continues to this day in present day Cambodia, Thailand & Burma.

Not everybody can get a Sak Yant tattoo & not everybody can do the tattoo......it's a very ancient religious art form. Sak Yant tattoos are considered "magical tattoos" & only a tattoo master can determined if a person seeking the Sak Yant is right for the tattoo & what type of Sak yant that person is going to recieve.

There's alot of rituals involved including fasting, cleansing both physical & spiritual, prayers on both the master tattooist & person recieving the tattoo's part; inorder for the the the magic to be imbued onto the tattoo & serve it's purpose of "protection" both physical & spiritual, "luck", "fortune" & etc.........There are sets of rules to abide by after recieving a Sak Yant tattoo or else the magic imbued into the Sak Yant tattoo will dissipate/ disappear.

more info on Sak Yant tattoo:

thats pretty cool. Im cambodian! so random

I think the tattoo is really fitting in the world they are trying to create. At first I was worried about it not translating on the screen during action sequences because since it is so small (the details not the whole tattoo) however after watching the latest trailers that worry is long gone. The more I watch the trailers the more excited it get.

I think the special effects people will create a dynamic transformation using Aang's tatoo's when he enters the Avatar state.
My question is, will they call it the "Avatar state" since some movie goers who did not watch the cartoon series might
mistake the term for something associated with the James Cameron "Avatar" movie?

lol i think that the people who go to see tla will know that "the avatar aang is chosen to balance the world, the avatar aang must not fail, the Avatar aang is obviously not in any way related to Avatar, and people who would get THAT confused while watching it and seeing the avatar state are, in my opinion, stupid
