This should probably go in the review thread, but I'm just saying that that gives me comfort because one of the reviews said that the film was missing half and hour of information.

Yeah apparently the run time should be around 125 minutes (says the newest info on the review thread), which would explain why the negative reviews felt the story was rushed.

So with that, I will mop up my tears, ring them into a coffee mug, and guzzle them down. (Save them for later)

If 25 minutes were cut from the screening, there are two possible reasons. 1) They were so rough that they weren't ready even for a test screening (like gren screen shots). The much more likely explanation is 2) that Paramount wanted to see if it worked around a 90 minutes length, because if they are going to market it to kids, 90 minutes is much more common place in the kids movie market, plus theaters can run it more times per screen per day, which means more money. If Paramount is convinced that the 90 minute cut ruins the movie, it will likely be released in as close to the full version invisioned by M Night, which isn't that big a leap for them since many successful fantasy films have been well over 2 hours (Narnia, Potter, etc). Let's hope for the best, but not live in pure denial either.

I highly doubt Paramount planned for a 90m movie. With such a huge budget thrown in coupled with a highly successful TV show, I'm sure they've planned it to be 2 hours over from the start, like every other visual feasts that reach the silver screen. A studio wouldn't claim it to be the next "star wars/matrix" if they didn't see something truly delightful in the story and the scenery. And if they did see something delightful in the story and scenery, then no...they won't leave out that extra 30 minutes. I'm sure of it.

Oh what little did we know. Re-reading my letter saddens me. Right after I wrote this, or at least that week, Paramount tried to do some PR by doing that roundtable discussion which accomplished nothing.

We should urge them to put up the full 2D movie, with no compromises and cut-off dialogue. Maybe just in time for some of the international releases. Maybe even re-release it here in North America for a lower price. I'm not sure about the price thing, but this is more about integrity now than money. I want M Night to salvage whatever dignity he has left, and maybe even recover some.

That would be an awesome thing if they showed the movie in theatres with no cuts. Have they ever done that before for a movie?
