Emtee wrote:Gold333, thanks for the review, it's nice to see an optimistic one amongst us fans here. I don't know what to think, but the general consensus seems to be that M. Night needs someone else to write his dialogues! I really hope they release the director's cut on DVD since it seems there has been so many scenes cut out.. sigh.

thanks Emtee, I'm sad no one likes it :( After reading others' reviews I see where they are coming from as well however, it's just so hard to watch from an unbiased perspective. To some this movie is like if The Fellowship of the Ring was an hour and a half. That would be so not good.

Let's all campaign for a super extended edition in DVD.

^ I'm down for that. :D

Very interesting about all the stuff from the spots and trailers being left out of the film.

My suspicion is that Paramount chopped the hell out of the film to facilitate the 3D conversion on time.

I don't know what it is but something doesn't add up as far as I'm concerned.

I am still seeing this film no matter what. as others have said i need closure.( it sucks that I have to wait til Sunday)

I saw that little special on Nicktoons last night and they showed a scene where Appas tail knocks over Sokka, was that cut too ?

This is the perfect example of why
Live Action Adaptations of an Animated Series don't work.
You can't fit 61 episodes of character development into 100 minutes.

The earth bending was weak.
The air bending didn't feel powerful.
The water bending was sad.
The fire bending didn't burn.

All the martial arts were done in poor form
except by the stunt doubles, but that was ruined by bad camera angles and slow motion.
The fight between Zuko and Aang was not choreographed,
they just seemed like 2 kids roughhousing.

The acting was cheezy.
Seems like all the actors' motivations were "depressed" and "stressed"
and the horribly written dialogue was delivered as if it was being read.
Dev Patel and Shaun Toub were the only professionals.

I found it disturbing that Iroh was getting a foot massage
by exotic earth nation slave girl.

I think one of the most important themes of Book 1 was left out.
Katara overcoming gender discrimination.

Zhao's punishment for killing a Spirit Animal
is drowning in a water bubble bended by 4 random water benders?
Really?

I am still sad that the Ocean Spirit was replaced by an anti-climatic tidal wave.
The Ocean Spirit was a homage to Hayao Miyazaki's Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke.

If book 2 and 3 get filmed...
it needs to go Straight To DVD
unless you get Mike & Bryan full creative control.

Oh, yeah!
"It's trying to eat me!" That was hilarious! Sokka's funnies were very good.

Sokka had funnies? huh, must have been distracted by the same face he gives the whole movie.

I'm going to loose my mind over the next three days, I promised my son I would take him to see this
and it's going to be his forst time going to the movies. I hope that it ends up being a good experience for him, he's only 4 and I think no matter what He will enjoy seeing all the charachters he loves in action. H edoesn't even know what pacing is. But I am fearfull of the behavior of the rest of the audience. Then again if I go to a Sunday Matinee we may have the whole place to ourselves.
