I know it is not anime, but american cartoon. I heared this thousand times too, dont worry, but it has "Anime's faces".
Remember Suki+Katara faces, when they are looking for lost Aang(who is on lion-turtle "island") or Katara face when they are arguing with Toph about she is lazy and not helping with stuff. I should have formulate it more clearly.

Okay we can shake on that, though the anime faces aren't trademarks & copyright and it they are cartoons

Well Asia is pretty diverse. And so is the Avatar-world, or at least, more so diverse than people think. The problem with the movie wasn't that there were white people in it. The problem with the movie was that it seemed to completely disregarded the physical appearance of the main characters. Might as well make a Malcolm X movie and make him Hispanic. Makes perfect sense.

adding to that, tech, asia includes russia and india. Asia is really the most diverse continent...

not the best idea, but the thing is, evryone has a slightly diff idea of what would be ok :hmm: some people are ok with any race that is the same color, some people want anything that can be found in asia, some people want all east asians, some people assign specific corresponding real-world-nations to every avater-nation... that said, most people would prob be pacified with people who had the same coloring and general build

Personally, I wouldn't care if these people were Martians. As long as they look like the characters in the show, it would be fine.

You guys know humans are all the same race right? M.Night addressed the ignorant several times during various interviews. The Earth, where the show originates, is full of diversity. You have the right to say something regardless of how boneheaded it is however you are implied to be informed.

Yeah all humans are the same therefore there nothing wrong in having the main protagonist be white, the antagonist be India/Arabs and everyone else be background characters, because all humans are the same and don't have different cultures or a continuing history of oppressing each other on superficial difference like appearance, gender, creed, etc. I think we should have a movie about the women liberation movement, but have all the roles played by men because what does it matter men and women are both humans, therefore by your logic they have no differences worth acknowledging, especially ones that might be critical to the topic, setting or ability for the moive to suspend disbelief. Like say having prominently white people in a movie that setting is derived from east Asain culture makes it hard to take the movie seriously, to suspend disbelief. As well as doing that ticks off Asain Americans who have been oppressed and being oppressed present in the Hollywood industry. If we are all human as you say then why don't Asain Americans get equal roles to their population? Either they aren't human or Hollywood producers, directors and writers need to be "informed" as you call it about the universal humanity of everyone that is not white and male.

Actually the truth is there WERE a bunch of Asian-Americans who were going to play all the major roles in TLA. Then they saw the script and backed out :?
