it also sucked how they played zukos mom up at the end just to leave it hanging. did they do that to leave something new for the movie? mike and bryan said they had it storyboarded but cut it out at the last minute.

I think Mike and Bryan made that for film intrigue. So people would be interested - so they would go to the movie. And the question where is zuko's mom really makes me go to the film.

No. They actually just ran out of time, and decided that this bit of the story could afford to be left unresolved. (They even had to add an extra episode just to fit in all the other stuff they had in mind. Hence Book 3 has 21 episodes.)

Actually, it was said in an interview that they were about to make it, but then just decided to leave it to the fans.

That's exactly what I said. They were about to make it, but they couldn't fit everything, so they decided to leave it to the fans.

Ugh, I hated how they left the Mom storyline hanging. It's the one thing left unresolved at the end of the series, isn't it? At the very least they should have left out the scene with Zuko grilling Ozai. Would have made it more bearable.

And even though the Lion Turtle came out of nowhere (and yes it was very Deus Ex Machina), I still thought it was kind of badass, in its own way. I've got mixed feelings about that one.
Something awesome will go here someday.

If only they would have made it a five-part season finale, and cut some of the early Book 3 episodes that were just fillers...

-sings song from holes-
If only, if only, the finale was five! The fans of the show would be happy and jive! lol.
