Restoring the Air Benders.

I guess this was already considered, but if Aang can remove some one's bending. Then he can give someone the ability to bend. My guess is that he recruited people with the potential and gave them the ability to air bend.

There also might be something where he tested the ability to give a bender the ability to bend another element or change their bending element.

Otherwise restoring the Air Benders would take up a lot of time.

The first airbenders learned airbending from flying bisons. Maybe Appa along with Aang will teach would be airbenders, renewing society of monks.

Aang Didnt take away the fire lords bending only suppress it .. think of it like this Aang can bend energy , enegry can niether be created or destroyed soo it would be impossible for him to take way someones bending or create airbenders

The Air Nomads were scattered to the winds.
All the Airbenders were killed but spiritual teachers, like Guru Patik, were not killed. Monks are still seen around once in a while."We lost the watertribe girl and the little bald monk she was traveling with" monks are not extinct just the Airbenders.
There are other references to the Air Nomads being alive in a new form.

Plus the Northern Air Temple people have the spirits of airbenders. Wheel chair guy(also missing from TLA movie) according to Aang; has the spirit of an airbender.

I agree that elemental-bending can be bestowed upon someone by energy-bending.

When I first heard about the new show, that is what I hoped would have happened and that we would have seen fully populated air temples in the legend of Korra. Sadly, the writers of the show decided to made there be four airbenders (not including korra) and aangs son tenzin is an airbending monk, but his children don't seem to be monks so they are making it seem like future air benders will no longer follow the air nomad traditions and will become a part of regular society. Which really pisses me off.
