Restoring the Air Benders.

Tenzin is the only fully trained Airbender. His children are learning it but are still very small and not masters. It would take a very long time to repopulate the Airbender nation.

When I first heard about the new show, that is what I hoped would have happened and that we would have seen fully populated air temples in the legend of Korra. Sadly, the writers of the show decided to made there be four airbenders (not including korra) and aangs son tenzin is an airbending monk, but his children don't seem to be monks so they are making it seem like future air benders will no longer follow the air nomad traditions and will become a part of regular society. Which really pisses me off.

What makes you think Tenzin's children will not be air monks and nuns?

When I said that, I had only seen one picture of them all and they didn't look anything like they would be ome monks and I heard a little bit ahoy them but then I actually saw the comic con videos about them and I realized that I actually think that they will, and obviously it's a cartoon and unless they further carry on the series well never know for sure. But anyways what I said before was basically ignorance haha

I read somewhere on the forum a link to the avatar wikia about the other 'monks' around Korra and Tenzin are Air acolytes (sp?). Perhaps Tenzin goes through the motions with them and teaches them the martial arts and spiritual side without them actually bending to preserve some of the ancient ideas.

is there any fact that aang can "give bending" this seems a bit much. but maybe, just dont see it happening.
and itll take a while to poulate the airbenders but it caan happen, especially with tenzin n his old lady reproducing like rabbits

I remember seeing during Avatar Extras that airbenders can only be born to airbenders. If this is correct, it will take a VERY, VERY long time for the Air Nomads to return. I am interested in seeing what will happen when it is an airbender's turn to be the Avatar, as there won't be that many airbenders to choose from.

but Pema isnt airbender and she has 4 airbending kids, they can "return" their nation to the world this way faster.

Seeing as humans can't asexually procreate, I wonder what other part of the equation made for her to give birth to 4 airbenders. I...I don't know. This one seems to slip me. I just, I don't know man. There seems to be an element here that's missing.

Anyway, I think it's also important to note that the rate in which Tenzin and Pema are popping out Airbenders is likely do to the "spiritual balance" of the world. I remember hearing in some TLA episode or elsewhere that people are born with bending powers due to their own spirituality, as well as by a means of balancing out the four elements around the world. Since the world completely lacks Airbenders, the rate of having an Airbender child is great.

This is in opposition to the Earth Nation which, since it has so many people, also has a whole lot of non-benders. (I realize that Pema is Earth Nation, which is why she has green eyes?)

Quote the whole sentence please, it looks weird now. I am sure you know what i meant with Pema. Katara isnt airbender too and she has Tenzin. Wondering, if you read what i was answering for, sounds like that guy was thinking that only airbenders can produce airbenders which is true only for 50%.

Bumi should be airbender then, so is Kya ... Why Pema so lucky 4of4 and Aang only 1of3 kids... weird balancing

As with anything birth-related, genetics plays a huge role in characteristics that are shown. Tenzin was born with the airbending gene, and he passed it to his children( we still don't know if Rohan will be an airbender btw). Him and Pema may still produce a non-bender, we most likely will never know though. I'm also pretty sure one of Katara's and Aang's kids was a waterbender, so her genes won out on that one. It's all a crap shoot.
