Hey I was just thinking, remember when Aang was killed when he was in the avatar state? What if the physical avatar state was somehow separated from the spiritual side?
This could explain Amon's power as he is not able to bend elements, but he could have got his current power by communicating with spirits like Aang did with the lion turtle; this could possible if he was born with the spiritual side of an avatar.
This could also explain Korra; she has not/can not contact the spirit world or go into avatar state, but has the ability to bend earth, water, fire and air.
What do you think?

There's already a thread for discussing Amon, but that is a very interesting theory actually and it does make sense. I just hope it's not like this because I really want to see Korra in the avatar state.

I dont think so. If the physical state and spiritual state was seperated, I don't think Aang would have been able to go into the avatar state or spirit world after he died the first time. Also Amon doesn't take bending away using energybending. Korra has been having flashbacks of Aangs memories so hopefully she'll meet him soon

When Aang did it using energybending there was all this light and coolness and stuff. Amon doesn't have all that coolness going on for him. Well it's just a guess, maybe he's just smoother.

As I have mentioned before I really hope it's energybending. It'd be a hundred times cooler than fancy chi-blocking.

I think that there exist a picture where Korra is in an Avatar State and another in which she talks whith Aang...
So she IS able to use the spiritual side of an avatar. Well I don't think it's possible for Amon to have this mental ability simultaneously with Korra!!

Since none of the characters in those images looks like themselves in the show I would say that is fan art, which can pretty much show Pabu in the avatar state talking to Roku in Zuko's bedroom.

We don't really know how much the Korra marketing team knew about the show itself, but I agree. In all likelihood, Korra can go Avatar-state.
