1) Amon is pretty darn cool so far
2) Korra is just great, really reminds me of Aang so much
3) I like how there isn't much explicit ties to the old Gaang, only references. And Police Chief really did good in the "what is that to me?" statement. I think it's great that the show decided to not have this continual, oh we should all be happy and work together like best buds thing.
4) Tenzin is pretty much what I expected, cool but clearly stressed!
5) My whole, "amon is a bad guy of Aang's children" idea seems to have gone down the drain! Which is cool, I guess.
6) The music is just so amazingly good!
7) I think it's all a bit weird getting used to all the technology they have going on.
8) Korra's mini-argument with the anti-equalist guy reminds me how hard it is to argue with people! But I love how people just openly challenge one another! Always keeping their minds open, and speaking their minds.

Ataru wrote:they're definitely targeting an older audience this time around. Besides Korra and the airbender kids there were no other kids or teens in this episode. -Every- secondary character was an adult, and the themes right from the beginning were pretty grown-up, with the gap in understanding between Korra and the protestor being one of the most obvious signs that this definitely wasn't a kids' world we're seeing. I'm very happy with the new, more adult themes of the series and I hope they really take the franchise to new places. Love Toph's daughter, she's probably gonna shape up to be one of my favorite characters.
Yes!
I think that's a good move, and even though they went with a much more mature (and therefore more realistic) cast, they still made the characters very animated in emotions. They weren't all a bore. Especially, as you mentioned, Toph's daughter. I really love how her character was done. The more I think about it, the more I think that I should really have expected that kind of character from the Chief. I mean, she is Toph's daughter after all. Even Amon seemed to portray the adult theme of the show overall as well. Instead of having a "this is the bad guy overlord" type thing, the Equalists are far more intellectual, and Amon is more of a mastermind than a typical corrupted national leader. I can barely hold in my excitement but I'm sure that this is going to be an even greater season of Avatar than what we've seen before. Book Air ftw.
