I always interpreted Bato as being alot younger than Hakoda for some reason. So I like Ethan Hawke- And he hasn't really been to busy for a while now so I don't know if he's still A list. Josh Brolin has a very distinctly fatherly look to him and even though he doesn't look exotic on his own he does compared to Jickola. But everyone on the list is okay.. I think Russel Crowe is a good actor and he's kiwi/ aussie so I should be proud, but I want someone with stronger rugged European features. He was great as a warrior in gladiator but I don't knoww. Gerard Butler? Although he's in a lot of movies now so he would cost alot.

Er, sorry to burst your bubble, but the official website, and pretty much every other reference site of Avatar has said that Hakoda is Kanna's son. If you go back a couple of pages, you see something with Kanna's description and something that says that her son's heart was broken or something like that.

What official website? What other references? Why would Kanna give the necklace to her future son-in-law to give to her daughter when he daughter's seen the necklace every day of her life? Why wouldn't Kanna give the necklace to her own child? I don't follow.

Maybe the institution of marriage was only compulsory in the NWT. MAYBE Hakoda and KYA werent even officially married.

I've never seen any official sources saying that myself, but I suppose it's possible. Maybe Kanna never had a daughter to pass it down to. Once her son married, his wife became like a daughter to her, and then she gave it to Kya.
