-Aang using his Avatar-ness to help people (and lie... )
-it was nice to see a sword fight this early in the series, even though it was really short

negatives:
-the tribes are so annoying, especially the leader of the Zhang tribe
-it's a pretty pointless episode
-it's boooooring
-Aang helped people by lying (it was kinda funny, but it made the episode even more pointless)
-Sokka and Katara fighting over the different stories seemed a bit forced
-no B plot

Rating: fail. But that's only comparing it to every other episode. In general it's an amazing episode... it just can't compare to the amazingness of the others.

Nyahh... I feel like I should post, but I don't really know what to say. Definately the worst episode in Season 1, I'd say. I can't rewatch it. It makes me feel really bored, and I just hate the whole 'feuding tribes' thing in general. Also, I didn't like the canyon guide. I thought he was kinda a dumb character.

Dumb character?! He was one of the only cool things about that episode.

I didn't think that the episode was all that bad, but is obviously a filler episode. It really just stalled the plot. But the thing that bothered me the most was the animation with both the Gan Jins and Zhangs tribes flashbacks of their different takes on the silly sacred orb redemption ritual dispute. And the animation of Aang's explanation flashback was also quite strange. And Aang's big lie did shock me at first, my reaction was the same as Sokka's

I would have to say its.... ok. NOT the best episode. But its general story was ok. Although pretty pointless.

Aang lying at the end was pretty bad. But so was Sokka and Katara fighting with eachother over people they just met?

But the worst part was everyone riding out of the canyon on those bug things???? Didn't really seem like traditional avatar writing to me? 4.5/10
