Um... no actually that's about accurate. The only thing Sony touts that tries to separate it is the 1:1 accurate movement sensing which the Wii already kinda did with that new attachment for the Wiimote. I mean watch the trailers for the Move... the ones where the person basically plays Wii Resort but with better graphics, and tell me they're not the exact same thing.

dont go saying they are the same when you dont know sh**. try researhing before you say that. not only is it a motion control device that is more precise than the wiimote even with the attachment it also uses the camera like the natal does. it has facial recognigion and you can use it like the natal from the waste up so when you crouch your guy on screen crouches etc. not to metion all wireless and bluetooth and vibration and rechargable baterries.and the games will all be hd and the games will be 10x better than wii. and that ball at the end lets the camera know where you are and it sees in 3d.oh and sony had the idea before nintendo but nintendo rushed to get it out and sony waited to perfect it. oh ya all that sure sounds like a wii mote. get your facts straight before saying sh**. PUT THAT IN YOUR JUICE BOX AND SUCK IT!!!!!

LOL

Fan boy much? Seriously though, it's just a wiimote with a camera. The novelty wore off after a week on the wii, I don't see why the few games the ps3 and 360 will have that focus on their new gimmick will be any different.

Sony made a mistake when they decided to "perfect" their new controls, why? The Wii was made focused on it's peripheral device, so you knew every wii game would use the nunchuks. While Sony is coming out with this technology that will only be compatible with certain games, and only backwards compatible with certain games. Anyone remember the six axis feature? You know that thing that sony said was gonna rock your world that didn't, the thing that you have to pay for with every ps3 controller. Remember how many games actually use it? Just remember that before you start having wet dreams about move.

That being said, I think buying both Move and Natal will be a great way to let microsoft and sony know that they should spend more of their time crapping out gimmicks instead of making good games.

Also I love how I'm being yelled at for not mentioning the camera. Oh you mean the Eye Toy? The one that's been out since PS2 days? Sorry for forgetting that bit of archeology. Facial recognition? Don't give me that BS. Explain to me how that would ever be used in an actual serious game that wasn't just throwing it in as a gimmick.

Anyway you should just calm down, take a breather, and remember that the system we're talking about: the PS3, is a barren wasteland of potential without fulfillment. All the 'good' games are either cross-platform games that I'd rather play on the 360 since it has a bigger library, or they're games that follow gaming trends so closely that you could easily find an equivalent on the other systems.

Oh I'm sorry there was that one game... Metal Gear 4. My apologies. If you'd like the PS3 to motion-capture you while you pass out from watching a 30-hour-long cutscene on a certain director's feelings on war by all means be my guest.

Zero Punctuation said it best: as long as there's no force feedback motion capture is just replacing button-pressing gameplay with arm-flailing gameplay. It's a gimmick and HEY it gets you more active but that could be accomplished by going to the gym every once in a while. None of these technologies is interesting or even really very original and I have 0 excitement for the kinds of cash-in gimmicky piece of garbage games they grunt out for these various tools.

It'll help if you think of the Natal and Move as being the equivalent of a DDR pad... there's really only one kind of game you're going to use it for and if you get bored with that (or don't like it in the first place) then you're really not going to care that the DDR pad exists. Trumping it up like it's some kind of system-saver is just an obvious sign that Sony is out of ideas. I'd be just as happy to harp on how much Natal sucks or how much the Wii is idiotic but I only attack where you defend.

Oh yeah because PS3 has NEVER had any other good games like, oh let's see, the Resistance series, Killzone 2, Infamous, God of War 3, Demon's Souls, LittleBigPlanet, MAG, Warhawk, the MotorStorm series, the Uncharted series, Valkyria Chronicles, Socom Confrontation, the Ratchet and Clank series and the list goes on.

And I'm sorry that your attention span is that of a chair and you can't watch cutscenes more than a few minutes at a time, but other people (surprise!) can.

And yes, it is a gimmick, but aren't things like, skins for you PS3 or 360 a gimmick as well? Or how about themes on your system? There are lots of gimmicks that companies employ and you seem to think they are to cheat people out of money. People aren't THAT stupid that they wouldn't know when to pay for something or save their money ESPECIALLY in these times of economic disaster. And if you'd have looked, you would have seen that they are predicting a less than one hundred dollar price tag. Of course this means nothing to you even though with the 360 you have to pay for the wireless attachment which runs you around eighty bucks or it comes included in the PS3 for no charge. Or if you feel like hopping online that's going to cost you another fifty bucks for a year or seventy if you're planning on going premium gold. Or maybe you prefer free when it comes to the PS3?

I know this isn't a PS3/360 flame war (I actually have both and love both even though i love my PS3 more) but you don't understand anything about the purpose of a gimmick; to give people another way to have fun. That's why the Wii sold like a bazillion of them. People like to have fun. Sorry you don't and that you are too serious of a gamer to have a little gimmicky, mind-numbing fun every once in a while, but there are millions of people, in the US alone, that do. So the solution is simple; don't want it? Don't buy it.

Hmm. Well I don't actually have any consoles and I only really use them to play RPGs and Visual Novels so I guess I'll withdraw while I can still avoid a flame war. You are correct in assuming that I 'miss the point' of gimmicks, but if gimmicks are so much fun you could just go buy a Wii and get it over with.

Also I'd just like to respond that you can't have your cake and eat it too... Am I a 'serious gamer who can't understand fun games'? Or do I 'not have the attention span required to play through a game with cutscenes'?

Off-subject you could pick your battles better, MGS4 was the biggest piece of crap I've ever played and I am a devoted fan of the MGS series, having played all the previous 3. MGS4 was not a stealth game nor was it a very good action game. It reminded me very much of the Xenosaga series in that it was crap gameplay used to string together horribly long cutscenes to tell some overblown pretentious story...

Only difference? Xenosaga involved cute girls so at least it was watcheable.

And now I'll leave you all to your serious discussion.

Don't defend mgs4 dude... Just...don't. The only person that would defend mgs4 is a person who never played the first ones, or is so blinded by their fanboyism that comparing them to twilight fans is adequate.

You know what's fun? Fun games. In case you didn't notice gimmicks make developers feel like they can slack off. Because they think I'm too stupid to realize I'm doing exactly the same sh** as before but with different controls. It's people like you that made Nintendo turn into the pile of crap that they are now. Why do you think Nintendo started making games and consoles for people who don't understand what makes a video game good? Cause there's more money in it. When you buy this excuse for creativity you enable developers to half ass all their projects. Well done

I wasn't defending MGS4 because I don't need to. It's one of the most critically acclaimed (as well as well received by fans) games of the last decade. Just because there are TWO naysayers in one place doesn't mean that it is a bad game.

Yes, but Sony has also been on the gimmick bandwagon since the beginning what with the dualshock controller (it's a gimmick don't deny it) eyetoy, sixaxis, (which I actually though worked quite well in Uncharted... only...) the DDR dance pad and Guitar Hero guitars and other instruments, but none of these have prevented the advancement of Sony. They still make quality games, because developers like having an opportunity to make quality games for loyal, dedicated fans and to flex their muscles, not produce cheap trash.

The Wii suffers from a system that is a gimmick in and of itself that uses outdated graphics and technology. PS3 is a powerful system with amazing graphics, with bluray support for video and graphics quality, that was built around solid mechanics. Yes Move is a gimmick, but PS3 will always play host to games that won't even bother building their games around the Move technology since there will be plenty others who will. You'll still have your shooters, action games, racing games, RPGs and the like. The addition of one gimmick on an already solid and powerful system will not lead the way to the downfall of the PS3's quality. Sony is smarter than that. And if Move turns out to suck it will just go the way of the sixaxis and disappear. Simple.

And I also wanted to apologize to Ataru. I woke up angry so I'm sorry for insulting. My bad.
