I think I speak for everyone when I say we need some animals. I saw no cross of animals, or any animals besides Momo, Appa, and Mr. Lizard.

WE NEED A TURTLE DUCK
Scratch that, we need a whole movie about the Turtle Duck

yeah we knew that going into the movie though, that they probably weren't going to be able to add more animals than what they used. but atleast they made reference to some.

That's very good to know, if theres one thing I really enjoy about Avatar it's seeing my son enjoy it.

But I am fearfull of the behavior of the rest of the audience. Then again if I go to a Sunday Matinee we may have the whole place to ourselves.

Please, I am begging you...
from one parent to another...
DO NOT TAKE YOUR 4 YEAR OLD TO WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!
Especially if its going to be his first theatre experience.
This movie is rated PG,
but there is not enough Parental Guidance to help him with his depression he will feel after leaving the theatre.
This movie is really dark and depressing.
The total opposite of what the light-hearted animated series expressed.
I went with my friend who brought his 6 year old
and his son wanted to leave after seeing how scary Appa and Momo looked.
My kid is 12 and all he did was complain about all the changes.

If you want your son to have a good first-time theatre experience
take him to watch Toy Story 3.
Its Rated G and its so far... the movie of the year.

Lol, thanks  I recently read your review and you are dead-on about the character relationships, specifically aang and katara. I guess I just had the feelings from the show still ingrained in my head so I didn't notice, but it is quite depressing when you compare their show and movie friendships unbiasedly. And it was also veryy interesting to hear about the perspective of your friends who haven't seen the show (since obviously, you aren't going to find many of us here on the forums). Also I LOVED the added scenes, esp the lunch scene. It's just sad because what with reshoots, etc. you can tell M. Night tried so hard.

I hope people hear the critic and fan reception, have really low expectations like i did because of them, and then are pleasantly surprised. And I HOPE the DVD gives us more time. :)

Take him to see the movie. I'm sure he'll love it. Appa is not that scary, if scary at all.
when we find ourselves thinking that killing a man makes us more of a man, but loving a man makes us less of man...

badly bruised muse,
how old are you? and how many kids do you have?
Can you really know the perspective of a 4 year old?

Awaken,
If you take him to see the movie...
watch it after Toy Story 3.
Do not let The Last Airbender be his first time movie experience.
He will be traumatized.
