pants are also an illusion. But no, if a tree falls and no ones around to hear it, it does not make a sound. There is nothing around to accept or perceive it's sound. IMO, reality is whatever we know and we are limited to. If a person had lived in a cave all his life, that's all he would know and that would be his reality.

I wasn't actually asking that as question but as an example.
Sound isn't something that exists in out heads. It's actual vibrations, actual waves that travel. They have a speed as well, it's a MFin MIRACLE ( like a giraffes neck ). The speed of sound coincidentally is not measured by our speed of perception.

You surely aren't so egotistical that you believe these waves do not occur if nothing is around to pick them up?
Same goes for this reality jibberish. Just because we aren't aware of something does not mean it isn't happening. A planet that we have never seen before could just have been hit by an asteroid and destroyed. Just because we do not know about it does not mean it did not happen.. right.. now.
If someone lives in a cave their entire life, life outside that cave still goes on. That is not reality, that is his perception of the world. Reality is what is actually there.

Yeah. I've been meaning to comment on this thread as soon as I had time to watch the videos. This video takes alot of information, a whole lot of it grounded in real science and philosophy, and attempts to throw it at you fast enough you don't see all the baseless leaps it makes, especially those from 'hypothetically/academically possible' to 'inevitable/certain'. It reminds me of all the 9/11 truther stuff I've seen.

The fact is that, in the realm of philosophy, pure solipsism (the assertion that only your mind exists) is an unfalsifiable possibility, and it's important to start with this reality so we can understand the level of certainty with which we can assign to any given claim, but the claims in that video are built on a foundation of accepting something as self-evidently true just because it can't be falsified. Sejame says it: nonsense.

okay so i can't really comment on the vids as i only watched the first two minutes and decided to disregard it. And judging from the thread it seems to be a consensus on that. I think that everything is just a point of view.
For example why does everything act and react in certain ways with each other.
There is no starting point for rules or laws governing everything. Hence no limitation.
A proton acts like a proton because if it didn't it wouldn't be labeled a proton.
So reality acts like we percieve it does because thats how we percieve it acts.
