if it's true that Harry Potter and Narnia will be under 105 minutes ): would be a shame...

Hah! I think Harry Potter just dodged the bullet - I have to change my prediction: Part 1 will be 2.5 hours. :D

Hey Mooseboy, I just discovered something else you should add to your list of cut footage:

The hug between Aang and Katara from the February trailer...if you look at the background, that hug was supposed to happen after Aang succeeded in making the Fire Nation fall back with his tidalwave.

But it was cut and replaced with the straight non-moving shot of them hugging.
Demand the Extended Edition, or the Trilogy is doomed.

I forgot to add that one. Thanks for reminding me. :)

*updates list*

M. Night really wanted to cut out as much Kataang as possible... He cut out two hugs and this extra shot of the hug at the end. :eh:

I checked with the movie novelization. There were differences from the movie like
Aang did kill off some fire nation soldiers with the wave - so that part could have been changed after the test screening - similar to what happened to Ah-nold's End of Days. The Dragon Spirit also played the role of Guru Pathik, asking Aang to detach himself from Katara. The thing about him not having a family -- it WAS referring to falling in love with someone. The movie is more vague on that, it could refer to not having Monk Gyatso as his father figure anymore

Also, when Katara told Aang to wait in the tent,
Aang played some games with the children with Katara looking on briefly. Reinstating that scene would given Aang better characterisation, portray him as a playful upbeat kid- not a normally gloomy and/or serious one

*facepalm*

This movie could have been so much better. Not much could have made up for a lot of the problems in the final cut, but I think there's enough material they cut out to make it into a decent movie that doesn't feel like a bunch of awkward/random scenes thrown together...

I think M.Night removed Kataang because
a) the on-screen chemistry was missing, especially with Noah Ringer being new to acting; and b) it doesn't make sense for Aang to want lovelife after losing everyone he knew in the Air Nomad genocide. For the final cut, M.Night snipped a few lines, changed the dialogue for the Dragon Spirit, and inserted a few more Southern Air Temple flashbacks, but overall I don't think it changed the running time much. Letting go of his guilt instead of Katara also means Aang can go back to being his upbeat self in the sequels.

But I wouldn't remove the other scenes as it is important for Aang's characterisation. Since you are such nice guy, let tell you what he gutted out due to running time constraints: ;)
Sokka got the children settled inside his grandmother's igloo. "Don't come out until I tell you it's safe, " he said sternly. The children all nodded and huddled together anxiously.

"Is something wrong?" the cloaked boy asked. "Should I come?"

"No," Katara replied quickly. "Please wait here."

As Sokka and Katara stepped toward the igloo door-way, Katara looked back at the mysterious boy.

Leaning the staff against the wall, he turned to the frightened group of children. "Don't worry," he said, smiling. "I'm sure there's nothing wrong." He pulled a handful of stones from the pocket of his cloak. "Who wants to play a game?" he asked.

The children gathered around the boy, who kneeled down and tossed the stones onto the floor.

Katara turned and joined her brother outside.

Here is another one:
Back at the igloo, a child tossed a stone into a group of other stones that were placed in a circle. The other children near him all cheered.

"You're good a that," said the clocked boy, who was leading the game. "Now I'll show you one of my favourite games."

A shadow fell over him as a Fire Nation soldier stepped into the igloo. He stared at the boy for a moment, then pulled of his clock revealing the arrow-shaped tattoo running across his head. He grabbed the boy and pulled him outside as the children huddled together in fear.

I think I know where that scene that belonged to...
The firebender thrust their hands forward in a move designed to direct a blast of fire right at the brother and sister. But before they completed their move, a spinning metal fan flew through the air from above, slamming into one of the firebenders and knocking him to the ground.

The remaining soliders looked up, along with Sokka and Katraa, just in time to see several figures clad in green kimonos leap from the forest trees. They landed behind the firebenders, who turned to confront them.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Sokka and Katara dashed to the campsite. Katara grabbed her water pouch and opened it. Sokka snatched up his boomerang, struck a a warrior's pose, and let out a piercing battle cry.

"Yiiiiii!" he shrieked, but the powerful yell quickly dwindled to a confused moan. "Huh?"

Sokka and Katara both stared in shock at the scene before them. The battle was over. A dozen Fire Nation soldiers and firebenders lay sprawled on the ground, unconscious.

M.Night need to put that back in the sequel! He gotta!

that's so sad ): That was one of the things I hated the most of the movie
I'm like a huge fan of romance hahaha or that kind of stuff (something that i like from the serie) haha
mmm and then...

I don't think the guilt it's a remplace of Katara in that case. As you said, the Dragon it's like the Guru and actually the monks are part of the list in the episode of the Guru. Katara actually it's part of two of them, one about the fear of try firebending and the other one about to fell in love. The lost of his people was another one...

but maybe I have missed a lot, and I don't get the idea haha
