No they're not.I belive I can find several praiseworthy details about the deleted scenes, but maybe I'll do that some other time.
Besides, the deleted scenes only
seem bad because of the way they were edited for the DVD, AND because those deleted scenes still have some missing content.
For example, in the
Aang for a Day featurette, we see a different version of the shot from "Water Tribe Battle" where Sokka tells Aang that Yue is dead...
But in that featurette, he doesn't just say that (like the way the deleted scene is shown) he also tells Aang to listen to the advice of the Spirits, and we can all see that Sokka's loss is motivating
/inspiring him.
And on top of that, the moment is also shot with a dramatic camera angle that shows both Noah and Jackson's full faces and bodies.
Another clear example is from the TV-spots. At one point in the movie, Sokka was supposed to criticize Katara's waterbending skills while he's talking to Aang, which makes Katara go "
HEY!"...this moment was confirmed to be in the movie by...
1) the Novelization;
2) the Manga novel;
3) Via Scope Magazine; and
4) Children's Activity-Books of the movie [like the one called "
Air Strike"].
But, this
short-but-important moment in the movie, was not only cut from the Theatrical version, it's obviously not going to be shown in the Deleted Scenes section of the DVD.
The point is, that's two examples of praiseworthy moments that are not shown on the Delted Scenes section, and it's safe to assume that there's more that they're still not showing us at all.
