In my eyes, this is good, it allows for a reboot of the series.

Don´t know if this was posted before, but boxofficespy assumes TLA has to make around 580 mil $ to break even.

Of course not just in the theaters but with DVD sales etc..

 yeah right.

See how that works?

Every time TLA reaches a milestone, the haters raise the bar of success higher and higher - just to reinforce their deranged view of the movie being an utter "failure". Nevermind that $280 million "budget" may be way off to begin with.

first 280, then 300, then 400, and now, 580. Wow.

@Crystal

Well, their assumptions are based on the rumored numbers (150mil $ + 130 mil $ marketing) and the fact that Paramount only keeps around 50% of the box office earnings.
It´s something hasdi and I also discussed earlier.
The linked article is from a date before TLA was in the theaters, so mabye they aren´t haters, cause they didn´t even see the movie.
The article is just an analysis based on some assumptions.
I guess you didn´t even bother to check out the link, just calling anybody "haters" is so much easier.

Hm, I should be more careful on the internet, Im not actually mad :D (<- see?). I didn't think they were deff. haters, I was rolling my eyes that the number keeps getting bigger. (I wanted a smilie with eyes half closed, but couldn't find one so I went with the rolled eyes)
there was that thing a while back where we talked about it costing a lot less, I assumed people outside the site wouldn't hear about it. But why should the number keep rising? Pick a number and stick to it

The 130 Mil marketing has already been debunked, let's not go down that path again.

http://www.redbox.com/content.mvc/top20 ... p&fv=79912

Airbender is number 2 (was number 1) on rentals for Redbox. Not bad. Based on my research, there is no chart that accurately tracks DVD sales. However, this is one we can look at when it updates: http://www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/w ... isweek.php

Interesting to note:
How to train your dragon brought in $493 Million in ticket sales worldwide.
Karate Kid brought in $358 Million.

However, Dragon has brought in 87 Million in DVD sales in 5 weeks. Karate Kid has only brought in $37 Million in DVD sales in 6 weeks. So even though Karate Kid brought in about 3/4 the revenue of Dragon in ticket sales, it's bringing in less than 1/2 the revenue of Dragon in DVD sales.

DVD sales are really critical to determining if their should be an Airbender sequel.
