The numbers are in! The highly anticipated premiere of Nickelodeon's The Legend of Korra pulled in 4.5 million total viewers this past Saturday! Ranking as the network's most-watched animated series premiere in over three years, Korra is proves once and for all that a female character can lead an action series! And boy does she ever! The show posted double and triple-digit increases across all kid and tween demos, and has been receiving critical praise across the board.

UPDATE (4/4/12): The first two episodes have now been released for free in HD via iTunes!

The first two episodes of The Legend of Korra have debuted online via Korra Nation! The series won't make it's television debut until April 14th, but Korra Nation announced the other week that if they got 100k likes on Facebook, the premiere would debut online early. And so it has!

The first two chapters, Welcome to Republic City, and A Leaf in the Wind were combined into double-length premiere episode, and it is absolutely spectacular! I believe the new series exceeded expectations -- which were high. It has lovable characters, a superb premise, great action, spectacular music, and a wonderful sense of humor -- all while being a bit more mature than the original series.

If you haven't had the chance to see the premiere yet, I recommend dropping what you're doing and head over to iTunes right now to check it out!

A couple of weeks ago we brought you the release of the first on-air trailer for The Legend of Korra. Today, the Wall Street Journal has debuted the second on-air trailer, and it's getting people excited! When you combine yesterday's release date and title change announcements, the second full trailer, and today's update all together, there's no reason not to be excited. It was announced today via Korra Nation that there is finally a premiere date for The Legend of Korra, and that date is Saturday, April 14th at 11am on Nickelodeon! That's in exactly 1 month, so get ready!
