That looks great. I was wondering if they would combine the two. printing and hanging in office as we speak LOL

More news... hey, on February 2nd, it'll be 150 days until the movie premiers! ^^ Assuming they don't move it... which they probably should. Or, the person taking the final cut of Eclipse from the editing room to the distribution room could have a tragic, tragic accident ;)
Comment by: Eudaemon @ 09:44 am January 27, 2010
EPIC! This is beautiful.
Comment by: Beckii @ 09:47 am January 27, 2010
That looks amazing! More TLA pics and whatnot have been coming out in the past few days I guess. It's all gettings started lol xD Cant wait for the movie.
Maybe they're confused because of the Japanese (manga) style in the Cartoon series,,, But,,, Tssss,,, They still had to do their research.
Comment by: Vanja1995 @ 10:31 am January 27, 2010
Yah, but they DID epicly praise it, so give them a break. I'm sure their intentions weren't bad when they called it "the really rather good, and massively popular *cough* tv series" :P
Comment by: Cash Bailey @ 10:36 am January 27, 2010
Epic Fail, Empire!
Comment by: Victor @ 10:39 am January 27, 2010
I still hold to my belief that it's 'shopped.
Comment by: NightBender @ 10:42 am January 27, 2010
dude... seriously. u disappoint me with such statements.
Comment by: bluespirit @ 10:52 am January 27, 2010

Comment by: HungarianGirl @ 10:55 am January 27, 2010
Hy, I'm from Hungary (a little country in Europe) and I think that looks amazing! In my country the series not too popular, but maybe the movie will have more fans
Comment by: Perla @ 10:56 am January 27, 2010
I'm so excited for the movie!!!
Comment by: Victor @ 11:33 am January 27, 2010
That's cold, Teddy. But hey, to each his own. Until I get solid confirmation, I'm believing it's a 'shopped pic.
Comment by: Chromatik @ 11:34 am January 27, 2010
Uh nb, you're welcome for sending you that link from Trailerman. Give me credit for taking someone else's credit!!!
Comment by: Zairex @ 11:34 am January 27, 2010
I saw this message via Twitter. When I clicked on the link, I was like, "OMG OMG OMG OM--- oh its just the same exact thing..."
I would not count this as new news, but I guess since it is the INTERNATIONAL version. (no sarcasm intended)
Comment by: NightBender @ 11:36 am January 27, 2010
@vic There are at least 5 variations in this poster that prove its not a shop. That's why I am disappointed. You aren't paying attention.
@chomatik THANK YOU! there! -crosses arms-
Comment by: omnios @ 11:40 am January 27, 2010
is there anywhere we can order this from? I've searched everywhere to buy it!
Comment by: P.B.D. @ 11:45 am January 27, 2010
Japanese series... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Just because it has a "anime" look does not me it's japanese!! Also Anime is the Japanese word for cartoon. An anime is just a cartoon. Stop acting like there is a differnce. *Goes in to Double D* I am a little Anime so I am a CARTOON! I am an Anime so I am CARTOON! Anime CARTOON! Anime CARTOON! Anime CARTOON! A-N-I-M-E E-Q-U-A-L-S C-A-R-T-O-O-N!!!
ANIME CARTOON Same thing!!! Learn it. Please.
Anyway on topic. I love the poster and I believe, Victor, that it is not shopped. Nothing shows it to be. It's just a poster to show the paralell between Aang and Zuko. Just like the other posters did, but more obvious.

My personal opinion, for what it is worth, is that the two seperate posters are better. Don't get me wrong, the international combo is pretty kick-@$$ awesome.
Comment by: lolie @ 12:02 pm January 27, 2010
yea the 2 seperate posters are better.....but this one is fine to
As an anime fan, and a fan of Avatar, your comments are extremely insulting and infuriating. You're not just insulting anime, you're insulting ATLA as well.
First, anime is the Japanese for ANIMATION. In Japan it means any animated series, in America and a lot of the Western world it means only Japanese animated series. Second anime and cartoons are *not* the same thing. Animation and cartoons are not the same thing. Just because it has a "cartoon" look does not mean it's a cartoon!! Just because something is animated does not mean it's a cartoon.
Not the same thing!!! Learn it. Please.
Comment by: P.B.D. @ 12:32 pm January 27, 2010
@Megan: Cartoon is Animation. 3D or not. Also how did I insult you? Can you explain how animation and cartoon are not the same?
Comment by: The_Water_Bender @ 12:42 pm January 27, 2010
Oh! Just noticed something interesting. (even though this might've been noticed before...) The logo in the post has the four flags of each nation (water tribes, earth kingdom, fire nation, air temples) And this movie is based on the first series... "Book 1: Water"
ANYWAYS, the water tribe flag has the most damage, the whole point to the flag appears to have been ripped off... so maybe it's an indicator of what series the movie is based on...
THE COOL THING IS, is that there is four flags... not three.

@ The_Water_Bender. Thats what i said in a previous post! but i think i was just passed off as ignorant. anyway, im glad someone else noticed that too

sweet poster. i want it.
Comment by: lord of light @ 02:37 pm January 27, 2010
Awesome! This really makes me want to see the movie now.
And, I must say, Zuko's scar looks much better and defined here than in previous pictures. Maybe they're using ILM to touch up his scar?

I do have my opinions of the differences between japanese anime and cartoons and whatnot, but I don't think it's really important right now compared to how awessommmee this poster is! ahaha!
Comment by: Lindsey @ 03:49 pm January 27, 2010
I'm afraid this movie isn't going to be as funny as the series. Everyone is so serious. But I still think it's going to be awesome because anything ILM touches will turn to gold. I can't wait for the next trailer!!!!

Think about the time limit people!!! Would you rather have a movie with a story that doesn't make sense to audiences and the actors cracking up all the time.......ORRRRR........a pristine cinematic feat of delivering the message of Book 1 with a tone of peace, destiny and honor with those great Eastern themes melded in. Imagine the "feel" that exists in the seasons's finales extended to the rest of Book 1: Water. Granted, the show fantastically integrated comedy and drama on a level unknown to network TV stations. And the show was and will always be one of my favorite TV shows for that very reason. BUT THE FIRST SEASON RAN FOR 2O EPISODES(of pure awesomeness )....Twenty half-hour spots on Nickelodeon enabled Mike and Brian to expose all of the adventures, relationships, troubles, trials, tribulations, heartbreak, trust, friendship, dark elements, an interesting "past" of Aang's world, and last but not least the wicked sweet comedy from Aang, Sokka, Momo, and Iroh (Toph is in Book 2). Squeezing the base storyline from the series is obviously essential, and M Night said HE HATED letting sections of the series go for the big screen version. No, the movie will definitely not be as upbeat as the show was. And no matter how much the movie succeeds or fails original fans will always turn to the series first as our favorite. W/ or w/o the jokes, gags, and quirkiness, Aang's destiny is most important. So just STOP whining that it's gonna be "too" serious!

Most movie goers don't want a line for line copy of a pre-existing material.......yet most don't want product so far off from a book/show's original spirit. It's a fine line of pleasing both average moviegoers and fans that filmmakers pull their hair out over. 2 examples: "Lord of the Rings" versus "A Series of Unfortunate Events". (I use books because no other show could match up to A:TLA's stature.) LOTR trilogy is probably considered one of the greatest book to film adaptations because Peter Jackson delivered key aspects of the books exquisitely over three movies. LOTR made book lovers as happy as moviegoers. And then there's a crapfest like Unfortunate Events. Jamming three whole books in the series into one film was a disaster form the get go. Jim Carrey as an annoying master of disguise in the movie didn't help much either.
To end, the frickin movie hasn't come out yet so wait until you have seen how M Night interpreted what he liked about Book 1: Water on screen.

Backin' you up there Rockin'
anyway... about the poster, I must say, I want Zuko's hairstyle and to anyone who noticed the Water Tribe flag torn up, nice sense of perception
How is this an international poster? Wouldn't it have an international website for the film, instead of the official US website? And for the record, I like this poster the most of the three we just got. I think the spirit of the show is represented beautifully, here. This is AWESOME!
I'd also like to add that most international posters refer to theaters as cinema, "In Cinemas 2010".
Just saying. I'm taking this badass poster for the US, haha! (Not trying to bitch about it, for the record, just thought I'd point out that... Heh... Heh...)
I think I like the two posters separated (Especially Zuko's!!) but they do seem as though they are meant to go together.
Can't wait for the trailer! It's getting so close now and I'm just hoping we get a look at Earth bending too. Water and Fire manipulation is something we've all seen before in movies; we caught a glimpse of Air bending in the teaser. I really just anxious to find out what the Earth bending will look like.
Not the best news update we have had in a while but in saying that I'd rather see some news over no news.

japanese, do your homework fools!- anyway- this sudden leak of stuff is awesome!, "i do believe in the power of stuff"
Comment by: RockinDMG @ 01:31 am January 28, 2010
@25kuzon - Who will play Master Pakku in the movie?
Well I remember in an interview that M Night and the creative team had agreed of a structure of how the three movies are laid out and how they are going to fit together as a coherent trilogy. Again with my time limit spiel, your question impacts all three movies. I'm guessing that the third won't have the Order of the White Lotus because it would be impossible to introduce Paku, Piando, Jeong Jeong, and Bumi and still respectfully show who they were.
Comment by: Vanja1995 @ 02:50 am January 28, 2010
yes, but they could introduce / integrate the OOTWL through iroh. like, subtly, make it part of him. foreshadowing by zuko asking iroh "hey I've never seen that tattoo on the back of your neck, what is it?" "oh just..." blahblahblah
Comment by: trailerman @ 03:44 am January 28, 2010
@RockinDMG
I hope, if you were related or are related to the process of filming, you meant that the Order will be introduced before the third movie, or not introduced at all?
Comment by: Kyle @ 08:28 am January 28, 2010
I highly doubt the Order of the White Lotus would be left out all together, you know that was the closest thing to a twist in the story and everyone knows M. Night can't resist a good twist.
It's not really a twist because you learn which characters are members throughout the show except a few. But If he hides it a little bit better while also showing that there is at least something going on it could be a great almost twist... i guess.... i might just be rambling though.

None of the character seem to resemble the ones from the cartoon. And for the record all of the "Bending" styles are derived from Chinese Martial Arts. Where do you guys get the Japanese part from?

Zuko's hair in the back kinda reminds me of Goku's hair for some strange reason. But anyways I'm looking forward to a martial arts movie with an M.Night flavor..should be what separates TLA from Street Fighter and Dragon Ball Evolution...ugggghhh. I noticed no one here has their thoughts set on Appa. I've tried to picture it live action and its kinda hard but the trailer should show him for sure :)
ANYONE WHO READS THIS OPEN UP ANOTHER TAB AND GO TO YOUTUBE!!!! LOOK UP TWO STEPS FROM HELL AND LISTEN TO THE SONG HEART OF COURAGE AND LOOK AT THE MOVIE POSTERS!!!!!!! ITS SOOOOOOO AWESOMELY EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment by: Satandonkey @ 12:46 pm January 28, 2010
@Neal stop acting like a middle schooler. If you want to be taken seriously on the internet, you can't just make your entire post in caps.
@axis The show was made "anime-style." That is where the japanese came from. The story was mainland based but the actual animation and story tones was taken from classic animes like FC, etc.
Comment by: Emsky @ 12:54 pm January 28, 2010
Neal- Yeahh, dude no one's going to take you seriously if you write like that. Save it for Capslock_Atla
