Someone on the forums over at
Herr-Der-Elemente.de seems to have gotten their hands on a new rough promotional photo featuring Aang, Zuko, Sokka, Katara, and a mystery Earthbender? Who could it be?

UPDATE: Frank Marshall has said this image is a fake. But, how much of it is fake? I mean, the studio did ask me to take it down...

@Wooohoo - Don't take this personally... This is just aimed at everyone in general... I find it so funny that throughout the release of the entire animated series everyone was so desperate to say Avatar the Last Airbender was a "cartoon" and refused to acknowledge it as an "Anime" because it was an created by Americans... but when they get to the actual film and the casting begins everyone is horrified at the fact their are white people playing the main roles. It's called "Speculative Fiction" It's where you take some fact and mix it up with fiction... You can have a real story set in a fictional world or a fictional story set in a real world. You can have white character's wearing asian cloths. I mean seriously no offense to any Asian person reading this but I've never seen an asian firebend before or bend any element for that matter. So don't pretend that it's set in a real world with real people. For all we know the producers of the show might of intended them to be a newly made up race of people that don't even exist in our world. The story is set in a fictional world with fictional character's who are never stated to be any race (Not Asian, not Caucasian, not Hispanic... ect.) other than - Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation or Air Nomads...
So if it was never stated that these character's were a particular race from "Our World" then how the hell did everyone get this idea in their head that everyone in the Avatar Universe is Asian? Could it be that they saw bit's of the Asian culture and just assumed that the characters must be asian. I agree that some of the characters look Asian but the majority of them look Caucasian if anything to me. Anyway even if you hate the casting it's too late to do anything about it now...
@K-RK - Haha, First off we have already worked out this guy isn't in the movie... Secondly, lets say for arguments sake he was in the Last Airbender film... Do you seriously think that's Jet?? Jet can't Earthbend and he defiantly isn't bald... lol.

You are correct in saying this, but it's more than just BITS of Avatar that's Asian inspired. It's the language(written, not oral), architecture, martial arts, philosophy/worldview, etc. For example, the philosophy of balance being in the world comes from an Eastern religion. Also, communism/socialism is not common at all in the Western hemisphere, it is more common in the eastern hemisphere(Asia). Ba Sing Se is socialist.

I do believe they have the right to sue the guy behind this site, and besides that, it's just a sign of courtesy to do so. And besides, we have people like you all around the Internet posting the pictures up so no worry's about finding the picture.
@Caleb - I'm not debating the fact that Asian culture can be found all the way throughout the series... Not just the clothing and architecture but the cultural and religious aspects too. It's more the fact that everyone says that the characters are Asian and complains about white washing. Personally, the way I see it is... Apart from skin colour and the obvious act that they are human, their is nothing indicating them to be similar to any one of our cultures. I was shocked when people started saying "Aang ain't white!" because to me he looks white. I mean if they really where Asian, wouldn't they be speaking the language aswell? Why not just have subtitles at the bottom of the screen like Naruto?

Avatar is an indian word right? hmmmmmmm as far as I know... and this goes to all... TLA is a fiction wherein its basis is the asian culture (particularly the chinese, japanese and a little bit of other culture) but the catch is characters are speaking the universal language which is english... now all of that said...
WHO CARES??? I mean cmon its fiction!!!! no one said characters are this and that!!! they based it on the culture and not on race and demographics!! they based it on culture!!! and another thing....

Another solution, would be to make a sign-in process; this way you need to create an account in order to see updates or make a post. This way you can prevent jerks like John from killing our fun by deleting accounts or I.P. banning.
NB: It would be a simple solution, it would only require some cookie-cutter Java scripts to add to the site, and would keep out trollers who like to pop in, insult us and cause us to get angry over something we should be having fun with.
If you want to keep this site point-and-click thats fine, I'm just comming up with solutions.
Anyways... Back to Avatar...
I really want to see a proper trailer! Does anyone know an exact date for the next one? If not how long before a movie do they usually release the theatrical trailer?
Well so far we've seen the Airbending in the teaser trailer, we know the Waterbending is going to look sweet and I've seen countless movies with awesome fire effects so we can pretty much bet the Firebending will be great too... But we haven't seen any Earthbending yet and that's the one I'm dying to see. Not because it's the only one that hasn't been shown but like I said in another post, I think it will be the hardest to animate.
I'm still trying to decide if Jet will be in the movie too... I mean he does have a part in 2 seasons but is he crucial to the story? If I was making the film I would put him in but I think that they will most likely leave him out. :'(

Twice, actually. For Koh it's first at the NWT and then again in Sozin's Comet when Kuruk is remembering what happened to Ummi.
For Kuruk he's seen multiple times... in the Avatar State he is seen, in Sozin's Comet, and I think a few others.

i dont understand... freaking iron man 2 has photos being released pretty much daily and the last airbender has pretty much given us just a teaser that shows nothing.. those photos of the cast were obviously mug shot to see how they looked just in costume. im pissed

@Avatar_Fan: yeah i think it should be moved, or move everything else lol. but since that's unlikely, i would prefer TLA moved, for it's own sake. But i would rather it move earlier than later, like if it's a month to the release date then they delay it i will be incredibly upset, but if they delayed it tomorrow i would be okay with that because i have a lot of time to get used to the new release date.
