holy c*** it's sonic the hedgehog... [er, no, it's an alien. Holy $*** it's an alien]

@26th Place: Sonic SATAM FTW!! laughing Best Sonic song ever. *Currently awaits the release of Sonic Classic Collection for the DS.*

Anyway, I love all the homages. Even The Sokka and Yue kiss is exactly like the series. It annoys me when people say Peter Jackson should of done it. One of the reasons the LOTR film series was great was because Jackson loved the books. Well Mnight loves the series. Has Peter Jackson even heard of TLA? Probably not.

I'm kinda disapointed by the trailers they are making. It is either going to be great or really stupid. I'm a big fan of the sieres and I'm sortof nervious. I really want them to put in Bumi!

Comment by: RockinDMG @ 05:46 pm February 22, 2010
P.B.D.

Right on with the director debate! laughing

Christopher Nolan took on the Batman franchise because he already liked it and look what he made, THE DARK KNIGHT. Tim Burton made Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because he wanted to make an adaptation which was faithful to the source material yet had his own "flare". Steven Spielberg brought heart pounding action and effects to the Jurassic Park movies, while retaining the creepiness that the books had.

There are ALWAYS doubters, skeptics, and haters when movie are announced and it's pointless. People laughed at how little money they thought AVATAR would make when the plot was put up online. The early Potter franchise protesters despised the books, and now it's the highest grossing film franchise of all time.

Keep an open mind wink. No one should have a firm opinion of a movie until AFTER seeing it to determine how it ranks. (Unless it is a Twilight movie *barfs*)

Comment by: Cody @ 05:50 pm February 22, 2010
I didn't start reading the twilight series until i saw the 2nd movie new moon. then i really liked it and im looking forward to seeing eclipse. its stupid how people hate it just because the vamps sparkle. i just pay attention to the relationship at hand.

Comment by: 26th Place @ 05:55 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.
I agree with your comment about Peter Jackson and LotRs. I think the problem arises when people think about Night's 'track record'. There is this stigma attached to his name and people (myself included) are worried how that stigma will affect the movie. But at the same time you have to remember that he was a fan of the series and wants to do it the justice it deserves. Will this be his break-out movie, his LotRs, etc? We'll just have to wait and see.

Comment by: prraangko @ 06:00 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.: I was thinking that as well, I think the trailer is trying to say that 'hey, I'm still very much like the original Avatar' I can't wait until it's on the theaters.

@Blake: Screw Twilight! haha I wasn't able to it that much, I don't know why my friends are crazy about it. When I watched it, I only heard screaming, pointless screaming

Comment by: Cody @ 06:04 pm February 22, 2010
I bet you all 20 bucks that most girls will see TLA just because Jackson rathbone is in it wink they wont care bout anything else but him lol.

Comment by: Ashley @ 06:17 pm February 22, 2010
@ Cody
haha yeah prolly! but luckly I'm not one of those girls plus i don't like twlight or care for jackson rathbone...i didn't even know who he was before he was casted for this movie!

Comment by: Sara @ 06:21 pm February 22, 2010
So HD version is up. You can definitely see the element symbols on the statues. It's much clearer. So my theory is that they are combining his trip to the Southern Air Temple with his capture by the YuYen archers. Right on.

Comment by: Melissa @ 06:23 pm February 22, 2010
Jackson Rathbone and Peter are the best part of twilight and the only characters i love. i just cracked up for all the other scenes and pattenson and stewerts acting, like really, can she portray any emotions or talk at all? and does edward have to talk soooo slow? or say anything non angsty? come on people, horrible relationship!!!!!!!

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 06:25 pm February 22, 2010
@airbender: Remember it's BASED off the show. Not a direct copy. The movies will be great in their own right while keeping the story true to itself.

@RockingDMG: Agreed. I find it funny how differen't Joker was, yet everyone loved him. He's my second favorite. Mark Hamill still has my spot as my number 1 Joker. No one can beat Mark. Also when I read the book I WAS SHOCKED when I realized Tim Burton's was REALLY faithful to the book. I always assumed the original was closer but nope. TLA will probably be like those. Which is fine. Because while I want the film to be faithful, I also want it to stand on it's own for it's own merits. Same for the sequals.

@26th Place: Stuart Little, Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense, and Signs. Nuff said.

@prraangko: Well I think it also is trying to show non fans "OOO I have tons of awsome action, SEE ME!!". Two birds with one arrow.

@Cody: Well if it gets TLA more money for sequals... laughing

Comment by: Cleo @ 06:29 pm February 22, 2010
I thought it was pretty good. It got some new specks of images, nothing much, but some if you look.

I mean, really, did you guys expect two minutes of Appa flying or entirely new scenes? Not everyone in the world saw the Superbowl trailer.

I thought it gave some good fight scenes, some really basic storyline information, and nice images of the lead cast (though I could do with more talking, but that's just me). I didn't expect all new stuff, because, then, they'd be giving stuff away. It gives more mystery this way! wink

Honestly, I'm satisfied.

Comment by: 26th Place @ 06:33 pm February 22, 2010
@Sara
Yes you can see the elemental symbols on the statues, AMAZING. If you look closely at the elemental symbols, they are EXTACTLY the same as the series. smile Also, I could see them combining The Southern Air Temple with The Blue Spirit, as long as they don't start out there (the SAT is not the GAang's first stop)

Comment by: Cody @ 06:40 pm February 22, 2010
@Sara

Im srry i dont see any symbols on the statues in the trailer, where do you see them?

Are you watching the HD version? It's really clear, they are holding them.

Comment by: Cody @ 07:18 pm February 22, 2010

Yea i watched the HD version, and i couldn't see nothin on the things they were holding.

@P.B.D.: I just wish that this will be epic :D

Comment by: SamAzu @ 07:29 pm February 22, 2010
I personally am and always have been a Shyamalan fan. Sure he's had a couple flop films (though I stand by what I said... The Happening = awesome) but nobody can deny it- the man is a master storyteller. He knows how to pace, how to work suspense, how to nail the tone, and how to get the point of the story clearly across. That, I feel, is exactly what something like The Last Airbender needs, an excellent retelling of a story we already know. I think that's why some of his other films failed- the storytelling was great, but the actual story in and of itself was... Well, bad. But I think once people start seeing the movie when it first comes out, hopefully rave about it to their friends, the skeptics will suspend their disbelief and see it, and the chain reaction will follow. Just like what happened with James Cameron's Avatar!

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 07:34 pm February 22, 2010
@prraangko: How can you look at these trailers and still be wishing for it? This will no doubt be epic. Im just worried about getting sequals. crying

@SamAzu: Agreed. Though I have only seen Signs and Stuart Little. I love them both. I am wanting to see Unbreakable. The others well... I really don't like horror films.. sad

Comment by: Sara @ 07:34 pm February 22, 2010
@ SamAzu

Amen.

@SamAzu: when I was a kid, whenever my relatives would watch the 6th Sense, I would hide but now, I just think that it is one of the best movies that I have ever watched.

Comment by: SamAzu @ 07:47 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D
You should try them, they're pretty horrific but in a kind of graceful I'm-not-trying-to-shove-this-disgusting-imag
e-into-your-head kind of way that actually helps the storyline rather than detering from it, in a way I think only Shyamalan could do. But if you're pretty squeamish, well I don't know...

@prraangko
That movie was genious. Blows my mind every time I watch it.

Comment by: prraangko @ 07:50 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.: if this will make tons of money, I bet they would, so we should promote this movie! hahaha Post the trailer everywhere :)

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 07:52 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: Well funny thing is that The Hills have Eyes didn't scare me. Because it was blood and Gore. After a while it's like "Scream, chomp, gore, blood, guts, crazy camera, end. Yawn.". REAL TERROR comes from suspense. No gore but more so wondering. When you are left to think, it gets to you and It's terrifying.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 07:55 pm February 22, 2010
@prraangko:EXACTLY!!!

Comment by: prraangko @ 07:55 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.: I totally agree, I don't get GORE = TERROR, for me it is more like GORE = THROW UP

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 08:00 pm February 22, 2010
@prraangko: Exactly. It makes you sick to your stomach and maybe traumatize you for a bit, but it won't scare you. The key to terror is not knowing. Weird but true. For the most part.

Comment by: SamAzu @ 08:03 pm February 22, 2010
That's what I thought about the happening, it was gross to see people kill themselves but it really made you think about life and the reaction of people when faced with death, and the suspense of whether someone was going to get affected by the gas and what they were going to do to themselves made it an A film in my eyes... Will someone please explain to me why that's his film that gets the most hate? Was it the acting? Acting isn't his fault, Mark Wahlberg just sucks rotten eggs at all things entertainment

Comment by: joshcamacho @ 08:04 pm February 22, 2010
i put myself in perspective in a person who hasnt been a fan of the show. and this movie doesnt make sense.

but as a fan it makes TOTAL sense.
but anyways, to the point, wouldnt it be a smart idea to make a trailer more like the opening sequence of the show but in more detail? i mean that pretty much sums it up right?

Comment by: prraangko @ 08:06 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.: Absolutely correct. My theory about fear is when you don't understand something, you fear it :)

Comment by: SamAzu @ 08:06 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.
Actually, M. Night once said: "Fear lies in the unknown."

I'm not kidding. He did say that.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 08:06 pm February 22, 2010
joshcamcho: Most people would probably just go see it for the action really. It's how the GA usually works.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 08:11 pm February 22, 2010
@prraangko: True. Perfectly true. Like frankenstine or the Hulk.

@Sam Azu: Well he is a brilliant director. I mean Signs was really scarey. Why? Because it focused on the family. You saw a bit of the aliens but you still didn't understand or know them. Just like the Joker in TDK. Sometimes, the less we know, the better. smile

Comment by: SamAzu @ 08:33 pm February 22, 2010
That's why, though unrelated to Shyamalan, Paranormal Activity was considered one of the scariest movies of the last generation. You didn't know what it looked like, where it was, what night it would attack, what it would do, or why it was doing any of it. That movie was terrifying, and I've seen a lot of "scary" movies.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 08:39 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: I mispelled scary... -__- Son of a bishop.

Anyway I heard a lot about paranormal activity. How was it? Good? Bad? Average? Gorey?

Comment by: lbjjay @ 08:45 pm February 22, 2010
samazu im with you man. One of the scariest movies i ever seen and I dont remember any blood or gore if there was any at all

Comment by: prraangko @ 08:48 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: I wasn't able to finish it because I only saw it in the office during my lunch break but I heard that it was quite good. I'm planning to get a copy for myself

Comment by: SamAzu @ 08:51 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D
Haha, I wasn't putting quotes around scary to correct your spelling, I was just doing that to imply that some movies that claim to be scary really aren't.

Paranormal Activity was actually pretty good. The story was meh, didn't really get much out of it, but it still FREAKED ME OUT. And lbjjay just mentioned it, but yeah it wasnt gory at all and was still terrifying. If you don't like disgusting blood and guts but want to be scared crapless, I recommend it.

Comment by: yoshi @ 08:52 pm February 22, 2010
uhm it wasnt scary at all it was very predictable and slow

Comment by: SamAzu @ 08:53 pm February 22, 2010
You should praangko. It's really one of a kind.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 09:00 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: Well still my spelling sucks. tongue

Anyway, sounds good. I definately should check it out. Big believer in the paranormal.

Comment by: SamAzu @ 09:02 pm February 22, 2010
@yoshi
you thought it was predictable that she was going to get randomly dragged down the hall by an invisible entity? Or that she was going to hurl that guys body at the screen in the very last two seconds of the film? Well okay then.
If you mean the story was predictable, well yeah, it was. That's why I said it was meh. It was just a ghost story kind of, but was really much more unique than any other horror films. I guess scary is an opinion based thing, if invisible murdurous demon stalkers don't do it for you, that's cool.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 09:07 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: Um spoilers?

Comment by: Kyle @ 09:15 pm February 22, 2010
I don't think i've actually commented on this one yet... not really much to discuss with this trailer.. let's hope we get something else new soon. smile

Comment by: RockinDMG @ 09:15 pm February 22, 2010
@joshcamacho "but anyways, to the point, wouldn't it be a smart idea to make a trailer more like the opening sequence of the show but in more detail? i mean that pretty much sums it up right?"

Yeah, the movie, like LOTR or Harry Potter, has an EXTREMELY COMPLEX backstory. Hopefully towards the release date, they make a trailer "similar" to the opening that The Golden Compass had:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNiiJ0JtBOQ

The first 45 seconds of the three minute trailer lists and explains the main elements of the story VERY well. Although the movie tanked at the box office, I believe that particular trailer to be one of the best. It "thoroughly" explains what exists in that world and, compared to the TLA trailers, goes over the terminology of the characters in the movie. It starts with slow moments. Then dramatic/storybuilding moments. And concludes in FANTASTICALLY EPIC scenes of the film (with main character actually talking laughing).

So not the greatest movie ever, but in my opinion an exceedingly well done movie trailer.

Comment by: prraangko @ 09:27 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D.: so you believe in the paranormal? :)

@SamAzu: I saw the part where the Ouija started to get fire and I was like, what the?

@RockinDMG: hopefully they would before it actually hits the theaters this July. Hopefully I would get calls for movie listings for this :)

Comment by: SamAzu @ 09:41 pm February 22, 2010
@P.B.D
Gaah! Sorry, delete delete delete! You didn't read that...

Comment by: SamAzu @ 09:45 pm February 22, 2010
@RockinDMG
they'd probably save something like that for much closer to the release date, if they (hopefully) do it at all.

Is it weird that I'm almost more excited about all the goodies and sneak peaks we're going to get about the movie in months like May or June than I am the actual movie?

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 09:48 pm February 22, 2010
@prraangko: Well yeah. I have had some expeiriences.

@SamAzu:.... Yeah still saw it..... tongue

Comment by: SamAzu @ 09:50 pm February 22, 2010

Well forget it. And don't read it again.

sad

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 09:54 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: Ha. It's okay. Im' not mad. Now if you spoiled TLA for me then.. oh wait.. already saw the show. tongue It's fine. Perfectly fine. And wow, the movie does sound scary. Nice. smile Can't wait to see it.

Comment by: SamAzu @ 10:06 pm February 22, 2010
What if I really did spoil the movie and it was way different from the show?
IROH DIES, THE MOON SPIRIT IS A CATERPILLAR AND YUE DYES HER HAIR HOT PINK. OH YEAH AND ZUTARA IS CANON.

...I really hope that's not what happens because then I'd feel like crap. Especially about the zutara part.

Comment by: RockinDMG @ 10:14 pm February 22, 2010
What stumps me is trying to imagine Noah in an epic bending fight against Cliff Curtis in the third/fourth movie. Way far off but whatever. Goddddddddddd I hope and pray we get sequels! crying

Also, I DON'T see any Zutara happening. Obviously Katara's hatred for Zuko and possibly when she feels sympathetic for him in Ba Sing Se, but it would be a long shot for the filmmakers to try and hint at a connection between Nicola and Dev.

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 10:15 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: Im' pretty sure that won't happen. laughing Also I actually like both Kataang and Zutara, though I think TLA Zutara might be a bit... yeah. Nicola is 14 and Dev Patel is 19. *Whistles*

Comment by: SamAzu @ 10:29 pm February 22, 2010
@RockinDMG
I think when you put zutara in the same statement as hot pink hair and caterpillars you can pretty much tell it's not a serious prediction laughing

@P.B.D.
Haha! Well then I hope they bump up Mai's age (isn't she 14 because Azula and Ty Lee are too?) because Mai and Zuko ARE canon

Comment by: P.B.D. @ 10:39 pm February 22, 2010
@SamAzu: They could just make Mai older.
