UGO brought us the exclusive 30 second Super Bowl Spot for The Last Airbender! There's lots of bending and fighting, as well as some Avatar State action. Also, keep your eyes peeled for Appa! Check it out:

as for the link, I can't find the story here, however lastairbenderFILM did have it http://lastairbenderfilm.com/2009/08/18/exclusive-journeys-the-spirit-world/#more-469 with the key line being "The Dragon says that the comet that began the war will return in three years, giving the firebenders control over their Chi, and thus the ability to create fire themselves."
I realize that the legitamicy of this 'script' was question when it was leaked, but I don't think it matters in regards to the Firebenders portion.

wow. almost six years ago i saw the premiere episode of avatar. i was in 5th grade. now im half way through high school, and its still my fav show. its AMAZING 2 see how far its come!!!

As far as firebenders not generating fire, I won't get into too many details because we don't know everything about how they portray the firebending. But it really doesn't bother me that much. As a matter of fact, it seems more balanced that way. Waterbenders (opposite of Firebenders) need a source of water if they want to bend, so why not fire?
Oh, and I think the long hair on the "Blue Spirit" is part of the outfit or the mask itself. I've seen masks with hair attached before. I actually think it looks kinda cool.
Man...I REALLY want to see the full trailer but I don't want to see Percy Jackson. I hope they post it online very soon after the 12th.

I really like the idea of firebenders not being able to create fire. Think about it... you don't see earthbenders randomly creating earth... or Aang creating air... or waterbenders creating water. They can only manipulate the elements... not create them. So the idea of them not creating fire gives them a flaw, making the battle scene more interesting :D
Anywho... I've saw the first episodes when I was in 5th grade, and now I'm in high school. So it's amazing to see this movie coming to life.

i think firebender only can bending the existing fire...on the trailer look that was someone (other firebender) on the position to power up the fire............but either create the fire or bending from existing fire doesn't bother me......I'M STILL WAITING FOR 2 MINUTES TRAILER!!!!
i like that idea why should be the only ones that can been out of no where? i always thought that was unfair if the movie does where they need a source of fire to bend i wont complain at all i like that idea a lot!!!!

Oh and I've heard some people saying that the trailer was just too much action and not enough emotion, dialogue, etc. Well you have to remember that this is airing during the SUPER BOWL. It has to appeal to the types of people that generally watch the Super Bowl- guys. I'm not saying that girls don't like football- I'll be in front of the TV for sure come Sunday, but you guys know what I mean right?
Plus they only had 30 seconds to catch peoples attention, so they just through a lot of action in there.
Oh and can anyone tell me where in the spot Momo is? I heard some people talking about him a couple pages back..

I totally agree with you about them trying to target the "Superbowl audience." Hopefully the theatrical trailer will be more well rounded.
And about Momo, I think people are starting to see things that aren't there. They think he's by Appa's tail, but personally I think the shape is too large. It looks more like people standing there.

I'm almost certain that that's not Momo. It's in the same place and time as Appa, but you can see that there are two things, and they both look more or less human.
The only things that I miss about firebenders not being able to create fire is that it takes away one of the major reasons for the Fire Nation to be such a bully. Also, I have no idea how the Zuko+Zhao fight is supposed to happen now.
On the other hand, fire is a reaction, not a substance, so it isn't much like the other elements in the first place.

Also, in regards to the trailer music. You have to keep in mind that the audience that is seeing this is watching the Super Bowl. I think that's why they chose rock instead of epic. :P
Either way. I guarantee the full trailer will have dialogue and epic music.

here is a cool way to look at it... as we can see in the official site... we can see zuko actually bending fire... now what if only pure blood (royal family of the fire nation) are the on that can only create fire and not common fire benders.... actually if that was the case I dont really mind

the firebender and earthbender scene. You can see Aang, Sokka and katara standing behind the firebender as he attacks the earthbender. I'm thinking this scene just might be, 1- haru getting captured or 2-the fight to free all the earthbenders from the fire nation prison, as you can see the other earthbenders standing in the far back in a earthbending form. or 3 something totally different. In regards to firebenders making thier own fire, you all know thay can, so why did this guy use the fire pit???? maybe he's just lazy....

I will be disappointed if firebenders can't produce their own fire. There are less fire resources then there are water, earth and definitely air. Carrying pits around seems like a hassle. And like someone pointed out before, they wouldn't be such "bullies" like in the show. I'm convinced they will make their own, but we just need to wait a couple days until the full trailer. Can't wait! (Really the only reason why I'm going to see Percy Jackson.)
I don't know if anyone else read about this, but apparently there was a screening recently, and it got a fairly good review, as well as a bad one. The good revew said it was a fun movie along the lines of Narnia(which may actually be a bad thing) while the bad review said it was basically crap...
If you haven't heard about this, I just want you guys to know that neither of the two reviewers has seen the show, so their opinions of the movie don't really matter...
Has anybody noticed that most of the people bashing the movie are people who haven't even seen the show? I mean I personally am STOKED about it, and will view it not only as a movie, but as an adaptation of possibly my favorite animated series I have seen(and even will see)

I forgot to mention that if they did have to use a fire resource, then a waterbender or airbender could easily put it out. That would destroy the firebender's chance of fighting back.

I understand it makes more sense if they can only manipulate fire, and not make it. But my main complaint would have to be i don't want fire bending to look like water bending, it already does in the trailer. it moves in a flowing motion around him just like water should, that motion he does would be absolutely perfect for a fire blast straight from the fist.
And it would really just ruin the whole style of fire bending, and a bunch of cool moves they have, like a bunch of quick jabs with fire bursts, fire blades, fire kicks ... the list goes on, all those moves would just be basic moves, with fire moving around them, it wouldn't look anywhere near as cool as the show.
And what about Azula and her Blue fire? and the lightning? all these things would be changed in strange ways, or just cut out.
this is one thing i will have trouble getting over.
I just downloaded (and started examining)the spot on quicktime, and discovered that the earthbender does summon up a rock, there's just so much sand you can't see it clearly...
Also, that must be the blue spirit fighting with aang, who else do we know weilding double swords?
Also! The waterbender has grey hair, and a bald spot on the top of his head, so it is most likely Pakku...
Also! judging from the colour of the clothes, I believe the person at the beginning with the beam of light is Sokka, but don't quote me...
Also, I hate to say it, but upon further examination, I believe I see two people beside Appa, not Momo, they appear to be circling Appa, as he turns to face them...

Iroh said to Zuko in the very first episode of Avatar the last airbender "Fire comes from the breath not the muscle" so any firebender no matter how skilled will make their own fire and if thay changed it "God help them" because we wont....
ok if u loook at the part with the iceberg and the one person on th floor; on the HD version u can see the snow and it looks like he or she was pushed backwards [two snow dust lines] . im guessing when the iceberg craked opened and it let the air out both of them were pushed back but one was pushed farther back thus we cant see him/her on the shot
nice, but i think it won't be as great as the AVATAR by james cameron w/c overcomes titanic

You know, I will be disappointed too if they can't make fire on their own. However, hopefully, if this is true, then they can take a "fistfull" of fire around their hand (like holding the flame as in the show). Then they can punch it and stuff, or like Aang does in The Deserter. It actually won't be that bad when put that way.

Yeah that's what i was thinking, if they do have to change that, that would be the best way to do it. If they still do all those awesome moves but instead of making fire for each move, using the fire they first got and just making it last throughout the whole move set. If they do it like that i will be happy. i just really don't want firebending to look like water bending. we'll see with the next trailer.

Think of the water benders at the North Pole losing their bending ability when the Moon Spirit died. It would be the same principle for NON-spontaneous-combustion fire benders on the Day of Black Sun. The fire benders just wouldn't be able to pick up and manipulate the fire.
The more I think about it, the more I wish the show hadn't made the fire benders able to spontaneously produce their fire. I'm a chemist, and it makes me wonder...what was actually combusting to produce the fire? You need carbon in the reaction to react with the oxygen. It just would have been difficult for the story tellers to constantly find a reason to have fire around since it's not as common as the other three elements.

i read a lot of these comments saying that fire benders may not be able to make their own fire. well it might be true or it might just be that it is easier for them to use fire that is already there when possible.

@Infinidy: I think they got their fire from the energy inside themselves and/or the sun. (correct me if I'm wrong) That's what combusting to produce fire, not from carbon/oxygen reactions.
