All this debate as to whether Night's Firebenders will be able to create fire...
If they can, great. If not, they'd carry fire with them and bend that (kind of like the firebender in the X-men movies, who couldn't create fire, so instead just had a lighter)
The thing is, if they can't create fire themselves it drastically weakens them. Without creating their own fire, most firebenders are going to be in situations without their bendable a lot more often than air/water/earth benders would be. And if you don't have your bendable with you during a fight, you're kind of limited as to how you can defend yourself.
Does that make sense?

Blindbandit: M Night is a big fan of Avatar and so are his kids. In an interveiw he said he wanted to stay true to the cartoon, and totally changing how firebender draw their power (inside there bodies and with their breath) would not only insult "US" the fans but also the brains behind it all. The guys (can not remember there names right now) who are also working with M Night on this movie, would be pissed if he change something a big as that. I know everyone is talking about this, so please keep in mind that it was a 30 second clip, keep the faith and trust that the Brains (I wish I could remember what their names are?) will not let anything sh*tty happen to teir "baby" Why mess with perfection
Defiantly not Momo hahahaha. Unless he is the size of a large kangaroo and has the ability to morph into two fire nation soldiers... I still liked the idea I said before, that the fire nations soldiers had a flint-stone like material on their armored gauntlets and when they hit them together it created a spark which they could then use to form fire. Maybe just a suggestion...
I'm now agreeing that in the film Fire benders will not be able to create their own fire. I just think it makes it more fair in a way seeing as non of the other benders can. I mean Katara is hardly ever around water in the show so she carries it with her... Maybe firebenders will have some way of keeping a small amount of fire on them. We'll see but I hope now that they can't create their own.

OMG!! I saw appa! I sure hope Momo will be in the movie too~ he's so cute! This is looking real good so far IMO, I just hope it doesn't turn out like Drangonball Evolution...

Alright I re watched the trailer for like the 38th time hahaha.
- Katara is indeed behind Sokka in the scene with the firebender attacking the earthbender. In the close up of him you see her arm poking out to the right of sokka and then when it zooms out a bit you clearly see her standing their in a dark blue costume. You have to be quick and pause it as soon as it zooms out or else the fire covers her up.
- That guy is defiantly earthbending. If you watch the arms and the stone pillar... They move almost exactly in sink with one another. He is earthbending.
- For some reason I don't like the Paku bending scene... Looks like he's struggling to move all that water. I know he's old but he's meant to be a master. Just seems weird you think he would movie it without even trying.
Sorry that I'm commenting again but I keep watching it and keep noticing more things.
- The only firebending in the entire trailer is when the guy uses it from the pot. Sorry to say this guys but the rest of the time the fire nation warriors were using swords and spears. Looks like it's confirmed that firebenders cannot create their own fire. Anyone else willing to back me up? Hundreds of warriors but no one (Even looking at the ones in the background) bends fire.
- I believe that the shot of all the fire nation ships at the end is taking from the NWT wall. Defiantly not Appa's saddle.

First off, thanks 25Kuzon, forgot Pyro's name :P And wyuna, I don't think removing the firebender's ability to create fire is a really drastic change. They can still bend fire, the plot is still based on the first season, it hasn't destroyed the movie or anything.
Anyway, Ninja: "It's confirmed that firebenders cannot create their own fire" Just because this 30 second trailer doesn't show any firebenders creating fire doesn't mean they can't. There's no clips of Sokka's boomerang either (from what I know), that doesn't mean it's not in there.
Also, with the whole "There are hundreds of warriors but noone firebends" issue; in the series, it's shown that not every person can bend, and that their are some soldiers that can't bend (none of the Southern Water Tribe warriors could bend, for example).
So, just because this 30 second trailer doesn't have any firebending soldiers creating fire, doesn't necessarily mean they can't create it, and it doesn't mean all fire soldiers can bend either.

I am amazed at all the time spent analyzing a 30 second clip,30 seconds !!!!!!!!! A 30 second clip can't really tell us much about what a film is really going to be like. I am looking forward to all the analysis of the 2 minute trailer because I know some of you guys are going to go hog wild !!!!!!!

Confirmed or not... I wouldn't want firebenders not being able to create their own fire...
What about Azula & Firelord Ozai, with their Blue flame and lighting... I'll be really sad if that doesn't shows up...
I'm keepin' my hopes up here... Lets wait for the official movie trailer..
The opening scene are the gates to the Northern Water Tribe. The boats are being driven by waterbenders!

My concerns about the fire bending are purley visual, if they still make the bending look like it did in the show, and not like water bending but with fire instead of water, i will be happy, if that means always having conveniently placed fire, or moves with more fire swirling around, to make it last longer, i'll be ok with that.
And for all we know, Mike and Bryan could have originally planned on dong fire bending like this, but chose not to for the visual aspect, or just to make the fire nation seem more unstoppable. It would be much easier to achieve in a movie anyway.
So if they still make it look cool, i will be fine with it.

lots of firenationsoldiers but just one bender....just 30 secs so it doesnt mean anything, but in the series i think were also a lots of firenationpeops who can`t create fire, so they have this staffs....and i like the flintstone idea and agree that the only thing i fear is, that firebending will look like waterbending...not because of i like fire that much (btw i prefer water^^) nut because i think it would be boring if fire and water looks like the same....it would be easier just to use 3 elements instead of such a thing

It kinda makes more sense that they can manipulate fire, not make it, when you think about it, because Waterbenders can't actually MAKE water, same with Earth and Air. *Sigh* I'm not sure whether I like it or not. Sometimes I just wonder why they even bother changing these things. The show was so great it seems like they didn't need to. Oh well, either way this movie is shaping up to be awesome!
But I'm still worried about the lightning :P

Too much speculation is going on right now, the whole firebending issue won't be resolved until the 2 min trailer premieres. We just all have to take a deep breath and RELAX!

I don't think that the fire bender was zhao because wouldn't he be wearing different armor then the fire bender next to him? I don't know it's only a thought.
Also maybe the "earth bender" is really katara because she isn't standing with aang or sokka. I'm sure you all remember the episode that katara fakes earth bending to rescue Haru from the fire nation.

@Maplesyrup - Unless there are two Katara's, she's not dressed up in Earth kingdom clothing... She is standing on the other side of Sokka. Most of the time the fire or firebender cover her up but if you refer to my previous post a few comments back and keep pausing your way through that clip you'll see her. She's wearing a dark blue coat.
and guy's what your saying is that not every Fire nation soldier can bend fire in show. I agree. But isn't it weird that only one bends fire in the entire clip and it's from a pr-existing source. I know you all want to see them create their own and believe me I do too but going from this it's looking pretty doubtful. I know it'll stuff things up later on (lightning etcetera).
Just weird that out of the 50 - 60 so firebenders you see only one bends fire. I want to keep my hopes up but I guess we'll see in the next trailer...

I bet even if they can't create fire (I wish they can), Azula or Ozai can still create lightning by getting a piece of fire and converting it on lightning, I think. And why do some mistakenly identifying Zhao with that bending soldier? I mean just look at Aasif's picture.............................okay, so he looks just like the soldier, still...

I actually think it's Sokka with the iceberg...judging from the colour of clothes, an it looks like it's a person wearing pants, whereas Katara wears more of a dress coat...

Could Katara possibly be directly in front of Sokka in that scene? As if to catch her when she gets blown back by the air blast from Aangs air bubble. It's possible. Maybe she is there and it's just too difficult to see her because the shot was taken from 3/4 behind.

It's kind of annoying rereading stuff people have already announced but I don't blame them for not reading over 470 comments. Anyways, doesn't Aang (Noah) look pretty CGI-ish at around 19 or 20 seconds when he spins his staff? I'm pretty sure it will be cleaner in the movie but I'm just pointing it out.

The firebending scene is very intrigating... We can see Aang showing his head to the soldiers, Katara's arm is rased in the direction of one of the fire nation soldiers, Sokka's in a fight position, the firebender seems to have Sokka's boomerang, one of the soldiers rolling in the WET ground...

Oh my gosh GIL, you are totally right. I don't know how you saw Sokka's boomerang but it is totally there.
I sort of noticed that there was something weird going on with that Fire Nation soldier on the right but good eye in spotting Katara's arm raised.
I thought for sure we had dissected this trailer beyond belief so it has amazed me that you caught something we have all been missing.

Also, when the soldier is on the ground you can see the group of Earthbenders behind Aang and Sokka has moved into a fighting position and one of the other two guards with helms is missing.

I don't know how anyone is seeing two people in that shot. I've looked multiple times and I can only ever see one person. It looks like Katara to me.
