UPDATED: A German Avatar fansite,
Herr-Der-Elemente.de, recently posted some pictures of the
GAang and Zuko on their website. There is no telling where they got these pictures from, but now we have pictures of the main cast members of
The Last Airbender.

*sigh* The damage that John has done to his cause makes me sad.
I can't understand how many here think the pictures of them look accurate and no offense to Ben Dover "PERFECT". However I won't be uncivil about it like John has been doing.
For me, my issue is with Katara's character. I was hoping to see her a darker color. She wasn't that Barbie that it seems many female characters become. She was strong, independent, caring and she wasn't a busty babe or anything like that. As a darker skinned girl I was hoping that would be reflected on the big screen where other hopeful girls could see it also. *sigh* Alas that isn't what is up there. I feel this movie doesn't really reflect on what the show is about either. But i digress.

Here's the way I see it... Does Optimus Prime in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen look ANYTHING like he did in the 1980's cartoon?? No, he looks BETTER. Just because somthing is different, dosent mean it's bad. Change CAN be good

Thank goodness he's gone.
i'm so happy to finally see Katara and Sokka in character.And i don't care what anyone says, Rothbone looks perfect, his facial structure is almost exactly like sokka's.
And i always thought Nicola was perfect from the beginning.
I'm not a fan of Aang or Sokka's expressions, at least a smirk would be better for sokka and Aang needs the whole raised eyebrows and big happy smile thing. i can't wait to see more pictures.

We are definitely not saying it's better than the cartoon, and i'm sure all of us are not 100% happy about the cast, But we are not going to let that get in our way of looking forward to this movie. we care more about weather the movie will be good or not than if the cast is Race accurate.
And judging by the team they have working on it now the movie should turn out amazing.
Thanks for not being annoying like John though.

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!
OK initial excitement gone. The pictures show us finally something, though are not so good to actually see well. They look like passport pictures to me...
Anyways:
Zuko - Loving him by the second. More scar visible this time.
Aang- Identical, though angry.
Katara - Need a better pic of her to decide. Not seeing much.
Sokka - O god! O loved him! He looks perfect!!!

Aang - Perfect. I'm of course talking looking like our Aang and not acting like him. (Young and cute, *thumbs up*)
Zuko - I was nervous about this one, but it turned out alright. I'm glad it isn't a pic of him bald with a ponytail. (Needs moar

Sokka - Looks old (Hope it is just the pic.) I'll need moar than just this to make a moar permanent answer. (Lol at expression!

Katara - She's pretty, but not Katara. Maybe if she tanned? *shrug* (Whoever is talking about the necklace, I disagree.)
I'm content with the cast, but I place more importance on the actual movie material itself than the accuracy of ethnicity.

Sylar made a good point when he said these are prob just reference photos. Um, Nicola looks awesome. bad aang. I like that Nicola looks younger to make kataang more believable.
Well I must say I was pretty disappointed to see the cast, I mean... putting aside these four... HAVE YOU SEEN UNCLE IROH? He's skinny.....SKINNY! Thats SOO wrong! And also I'm disappointed that there will be no Toph in this first movie. I've heard rumors of them making a trilogy so I'm hoping for new cast members in future movies.
But whats done is done and I LOVE the series so I'm going to be a huge critic on the movie.. BTW I like the countdown at the top of the website.

They certainly don't look like the characters on the show! And considering they are all white...these kids better be the best actors in the world to make up for it! I love how people are convinced they will be great actors. They just HAVE to be, ya know?

zuko looks amazing... i mean imagine him with hair. not. but they actually put some time into his appearance it seems. aang looks alright with that arrow being the main point that brings it together but sokka and katara look sooo shity for such a high budget. i mean put some time into them they look like they are homeless haha.. katara's hair loopies look like shit and if i didnt know that was sokka and i saw that photo id be like o a guy with fur on.. SHIT

and one more thing.. aang looks so creepy ad just blah. ZUKO is clearly gunna be a huge part considering his acting and the fact like he looks like zuko and had time spent on the way he looks. im soooo disappointed in the gang.. they look soo like they would never be together for anything let alone 3 years

Ya know, the actors aren't to blame here. They take the direction they're given. So if you don't like how serious Noah looks, take it up with Night. He's the one who tells Noah what to do. He can't help that. I'm sure as a 12 year old boy, he probably WOULD like to have more fun and not be all serious. So remember, do not blame the actors....

weird enough.... the rathbone does look like sokka in a way (not totally but..) and his expression does cut for the sokka shyamalan wants (Hans Solo not Jar Jar right?) so its cool!

There's a bit of a nod to the canon Water Tribe garb with the blue sash on Nicola.

DUDE. ZUKO. SCAR. Where is his freaking scar? It's barely there. Half his face is supposed to be melted off. I can deal with him having hair, but that scar is supposed to be ridiculously noticeable, and it's barely there. Fail.
Also, where's Sokka's ponytail? Why is Aang such an angry looking guy? Let the kid smile.
And finally? The whitewashing is REALLY obvious. D: So disappointing.

I think Zuko's scar looks like a realistic burn , sokka 'warriors wolftail' can't be seen bc he's looking straight into the camera , if he would show his profile then you could see it

Yeah, I think that a more toned down, more neutral colour palette that still incorporates their nation's colour is a better way to go than to put them in bright primary colours. Also, some people are upset about the designs in Noah's 'tattoos,' just imagine a bald 12 year old boy in bright orange and yellow with a bright cyan arrow on his head. It would look more than silly(but that's just my opinion, I respect the opinion of those who are less than pleased with it).
Yeah, I do agree that the scar looks more realistic. It's more apparent here than in the pictures that were released earlier. I was a bit upset when I first saw them on ASN.

I mean, we have all already seen the show. Some of us already own it. If I want to watch the show over again I'll do just that. I want this movie to be new and exiting! I don't want to see the exact same costumes and people who look exactly like the characters.

Personally, I think they did a pretty good job casting. I mean PEOPLE SERIOUSLY. They aren't going to find the freakin perfect people for each character. Be grateful that they are even making a movie. I'm sooo sick of people complaining about the casting. It's like biting the hand that feeds you -_-

I really wish they would've taken a better picture of Noah or perhaps he could've made an expression a lot less... deadpan. The arrow design was cleverly reinvented, though.
Dev's scar still bothers me a lot. I'm going to have to go with it looking more like a rash than a burn scar. I hope they make it look a lot more poignant in future photos. It is so integral to his character that having it hardly stand out is a big disappointment. I mean, it should be the very first you notice about his character - his hair looks fiercer.
Not too taken with the WT clothing, either. Just a little blue wouldn't hurt, right? As for Sokka and Katara: when the actors honestly don't look like the characters physically, it makes it a lot more difficult for me to judge how well they capture the character when they're pretty much expressionless in these photos. I will wait for more photos to really make a fair opinion.
I'm guardedly optimistic though still incredibly let down that this is another missed opportunity for asian/inuit characters to be represented in the media.

Katara wat can i say looking great and Sokka well, his hair is in a ponytail i think, but i thort they were trying to get tans?
They do look decent, even tho aang look's a little weird, but oh well. The clothing look's amazingly done, and a lot of them do look somewhat like the characters, just with different skin color, but oh well. Now all we have to see is how well they act, and how close they are to their animated counter parts.

We have seen just some pics and one teaser we will be able to decide 100% when we will see some videos with them talking doing some dialogues understand what I mean?

Also, see some real Martial Sword movies.

some of you are complaining the inuit garb isn't blue but have no issues with them being PALE.
*sigh* I was really hoping for better.
I guess they look alright if I hadn't loved avatar as much as I do.. It's just that.. it's almsot like they've swapped Sokka/katara's skin tones around with Zukos. Just strikes me as strange is all.
Well Noa/ang looks kinda cool i must say and I do like the screen adaptaions of the outfits and hair.
The arrow tattoo is cool too (be cooler if it stood out more though)

After taking a second look, I realized something... didn't Rathbone look, well, "tanner" in the 69 interview? Makes me wonder if these are costume fitting pictures, to see how they look in full garb.

I like Zuko, Aang and Katara...for some odd reason, Jackson Rathborne doesn't look as cute here...I can't believe I am saying this, but he looks much better as Jasper in Twilight. *shoots self*

I personally don't want to see the cartoon on the big screen all over again. I like the fact that the movie is turning out to be separate from the show because that way I can enjoy both separately. I'm really looking forward to this movie; the actors look great, the costumes look amazing, the trailer was awesome.
I understand those who want to see everything match the show, but to me that's boring. I think it will be refreshing and interesting to see the show in a different light and direction.

This looks nothing like the character's I love. NOTHING.
Sokka and Katara aren't supposed to be white. Dx I mean, they didn't even put make-up on them! If you showed me a picture of these two, I never would've thought in a million years that held any resemblance to Sokka and Katara. The excuse of "Oh, but people with dark skin don't have blue eyes!" cannot be used because <i>neither do these two</i>.
And Zuko. Where's his SCAR? It's supposed to be a huge, red, disfiguring mark that serves as the root to a lot of emotional distress and confusion and give the feel of a guy who's been through hell and back. This picture shows him with an almost-skin-tone, slightly raised patch of skin. Zuko cannot get away with being a jerk when there is <i>no evidence that he has been abused and mentally tortured by his father</i>.
And Aang. His arrow, like Zuko's scar, is supposed to be a huge, distinguishing mark. I can barely see it in that picture (and the trailer). And it looks nothing like it's supposed. Various symbols making up the shape of an arrow =/= equal a GIANT. BLUE. ARROW. Dx
